REALLY hope we get this sequel, I think this franchise could really go places and we definately need more space sci-fi franchises other than Star Trek.

Come on Vin, get it going!

Seeing the remnants of Furia and actually seeing the Underverse would be AWESOME! I really hope we get these

Yeah, the glimpse we got of Furia in the DC looked real spooky, just mass graves, it would look REALLY spooky in a movie and could be a good setting for some great sci-fi.

I'd like to see another. But honest I don't see it happening. Universel is having a terrible year, DT last movie did terrible, the Riddick movie did terrible(expect on dvd, but dvd sales are down on adays), ,and Comcast new stake in the company with plans of trying to fix this broken company. Very slim. The Fast and Furious sequel will have a better chance of being made, hopefully Vin will work in a line saying if he does that movie Riddick has to happen.

^Thing is, if they do another it will be well under the budget of COR, which means less risk for Universal, and more chance of a profit, so I can see them going for it, you never know, hopefully Vin is really persuasive.

in the directors cut we see Furia?

Some more very promising news on the sequel has been posted by Diesel himself on his official facebook page.

A lot of the filming would be done in New Zealand.

Great locations, and a potential Weta Workshop partnership

Also, this imdb board user claims director/writer David Twohy sent him a message about the status of the film.

well I just received 2 new messages from David Twohy himself, and in his first one, he mentions that he is finished with the script, and he's now storyboarding, budgeting, and scouting various locations around the world. He says he'll know for sure within the next month or so.

Only a glimpse, it just looks like a world covered in graves, we also get a quick shot of the Lord Marshall on Furia, nothing expansive, but it looked great.

Excellent news, I really hope we get this as I love space saga movies and Star Trek alone cant satiate my lust!

Nice to hear Vin is using fan feedback to push the film to Universal.

Pitch Black was great, but the Chronicles was dissapointing with it's "furyans" and "necromongers".

LOL! I looked up Riddick in wikipedia, and it has this to say about his childhood:

"Riddick was born on Furya. He was an Alpha Furyan, giving him an advantage in strength and endurance over normal Furyan infants. Before Riddick's birth, a Necromonger officer named Zhylaw consulted an Elemental seer (implied to be Aereon), who told him that a male Furyan (only a child at the time of prediction) would kill him in the future. In retaliation, Zhylaw attacked Furya in an attempt to massacre all male children, going so far as to personally strangle newborn infants with their umbilical cords. He strangled Riddick with his umbilical cord and believed him dead, but Riddick actually survived (probably due to his Alpha Furyan endurance), and would always remember the attack on his homeworld.
In later life, Riddick repressed his memories of the massacre on Furya and came to believe that when he was born, his mother attempted to kill him by strangling him with his umbilical cord and dumping him in a trash bin. Despite this, he periodically received visions and messages from a Furyan survivor named Shirah, which he believed to be signs of mental instability.
Little is known about Riddick's childhood, save that he had no education."

HAHAHAHAHAHA! "In retaliation, Zhylaw attacked Furya in an attempt to massacre all male children, going so far as to personally strangle newborn infants with their umbilical cords. He strangled Riddick with his umbilical cord.."

This Zhylaw is really evil. You can't get more evil then that. He is so riddiculously evil, that I can only laugh. Hahhahahahaha!!!

^Yeah, most of that was in the book of the movie, some of it is mentioned in the DC also.

Well, a lot of us liked Chronicles of Riddick.

^I sure did, especially the DC which was actually a good sci-fi movie, really hope we get the next 2 movies.

After all this time i've not yet watched the DC but i do plan on getting it now that the price of the dvd has dropped in some stores.

Also, i was just thinking that if Universal greenlights the sequel and with the likelihood of filming taking place in New Zealand, the chances of a Karl Urban return are slightly bigger now.:yay:

Very nice indeed.

I'm always happy to hear that they're pushing forward Riddick 3, and potentially 4. It's so rare to see sci-fi franchises on the big screen that were created specifically for the movies and are not adaptations, and I thought Riddick was a great example of something new and unique. I really look forward to seeing more.

It's nice to see a guy like Vin using new technology like Facebook and DVD sales and rental totals to get Riddick sequels greenlit. It's probably much more accurate than the polls they current use to gauge puplic interest. And besides, it's not like they also cannot get rating on the TNT airings like last night to show a maintained interest in the property.

Vin Diesel is confirmed to star in and produce a third installment installment in the "Chronicles of Riddick" franchise, reports Variety.

Universal Pictures will handle domestic distribution and Lionsgate is currently selling international rights.

David Twohy, who wrote and directed both Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, will direct again from a screenplay he wrote.

According to the trade, the third film will hew closer in tone to the cult hit Pitch Black and will focus on the character of Riddick as opposed to the universe he inhabits.

Diesel is first expected to star in Universal's Fast Five, the fifth installment in the "Fast and Furious" franchise.

of course if there is a riddick movie that Diesel would be Riddick. just make the f..... movie. make it now.

I hope they can, somehow, bring Kyra back. Alexa Davalos was great in the last one.
