Vin Diesel Says Universal Wants Riddick 4
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/01/28/vin-diesel-says-universal-wants-riddick-4

If there's one thing Vin Diesel apparently loves more than movies and muscles it's music. And dancing. And posting to his Facebook page, which is how he announced that Universal Studios contacted him to tell him they want to develop a fourth Riddick movie based off the Blu-ray sales of the third movie.

Riddick made $98.3 million at the worldwide box office off a budget that was reportedly just $38 million.

I want Riddick to finally return to Furya. We're waited a decade to see it. I hope Universal greenlights a sequel.

:cmad:

The Underverse featured movie would come before the Furya one.

Will they have the budget to do an Underverse film? I doubt it.

All nice and good but until they say "greenlighted" and start filming I'll just leave it as a hopeful.

With Resident Evil done and dusted whenever the next one is out, Universal want that September sci-fi slot before Screen Gems/Sony come up with something else.

Awesome news, the movie made plenty of money back so a sequel was expected but still nice to hear.

Vaako is obviously gonna be a bigger role in the next movie, especially after the DC ending which says he is now like the Lord Marshall from COR.

Whoa, I just saw that DC ending. I had no idea it existed. I guess the Underverse it is!

Riddick teams with Judge Dredd, Doomguy and Det. John Kennex to fight Vaako.

With "Bones" McCoy patching them up during the fight.

I dont know why they left that ending out of the TC, it sets up the next movie brilliantly.

Twohy's DC's for the last 2 Riddick movies have been better than TC's, dont know why they dont just release the DC's at the cinema.

I thought the ending felt very abrupt in the theater. I dont understand why they cut that. It gets you really excited for the next one.

I guess they didn't want to be presumptuous incase this totally bombed. Is it online anywhere i'd like to see it.

Yeah same here, the additional scene on the DC made the ending much better and sets-up the next movie better than the TC ending as well.

One thing I didnt get though in the DC was Vaako's monologue about Furyans, he mentioned he saw one who took out a lot of necromongers on his own and he had eyes just like Riddick.

But Riddicks eyes are like that because he got a surgical shine job on his eyeballs as he says in PB. Did Twohy sort of re-boot the story about Riddicks eyes with that added scene with Vaako?

I haven't seen the DC yet but it's been in two of three movies that his eyes were done surgically (and it was prominently discussed) so it's a little late in the game to go retconning that.

It was done in the Butcher Bay game right? Man, that is probably the best game based on a movie franchise ever. It's a great game regardless.

Under normal circumstances it's because the studio/producers have final cut rights. But because this was done independently, I couldn't honestly say.

In CoR "Jack"/Kyra mentions she tried to get a shine job in every prison she went to and no one knew what she was talking about, implying Riddick had made it up. In the games I think a witch or something grants him the eyes. Haven't played them in forever.

Yeah thats why I found it a little strange. The woman and guy Furyans in COR didnt have the silver eyes either. But Dude Love makes a good point below.

Yeah its a strange one, glad we have the DC now of course.

Yeah this is true, but there are two furyans in COR who just have normal eyes, so this makes it even more confusing. Only thing I can is the guy Vaako was talking about was a member of Riddicks family and only they have the see in the dark eyes for some reason.

Maybe Twohy will go into it more in the next movie.

I think it's probably left vague enough, incase Twohy has more than one idea.

If that is true that his eyes are natural, it might imply Riddick's family is somehow special or unique even among Furyians. Royalty maybe or some kind of family of assassins.

So I caught the Director's cut last night, while I much preferred the DC opening, I can't say I'm a fan of the ending. The film went to lengths to distance itself from the fantasy aspect of CoR and return to the real, hard sci-fi world of Pitch Black only to tease a return to the hocus pocus stuff again? I'm much more interested in him trying to find Furya.
