I think this is a better idea than the straight up prequel. I"m really liking everything I'm hearing about this.

Now if they said Vangelis and Hans Zimmer were doing the score together I would pass out.

Maybe it's not a heart attack....

so it will have action? makes sense since the budget will be huge and has a sumemr realese.

the question now is can you make a horror movie with action? ALiens was not a straight horror movie. and i was hoping that Scott would make a hardcore horror movie and teach those teenagers how its done.

Well it's not a summer release. Not in the US anyways. March 9th 2012.

Really? Funny MTV says it's still March 9th. But I'm sure they are not as reliable.

Quite a risk to move it to June, with Avengers and Star Trek II stuck on each side of it. I wonder if it will fair well?

EDIT: Damnit I was hoping for a trailer in June too.....hopefully they have a big marketing campaign for it.

that interview with Fassbender made me excited for this movie after thinking that this will would have nothing to do with the Alien films

had my doubts at first, but now it's one of my most anticipated films of 2012 :awesome:

Rapace is getting really ripped for battling evil space monsters:

from last nights BAFTAs
look at them guns :D

I usally find her attractive, but she's a tad scary looking in that picture.

she looks badass.

she needs to be in an action movie where she kick ass.

Is this film still set in the AVP universe?
Wikipedia even shows it in a separate page from the main series, i hope that this one stands on it's oun but shows the origin of the xenomorphs in a way that it's the focus of the film but doesn't make the normal public realise that.

I hope Noomi's character is portrayed as a real badass in the movie so she can stand besides Ripley and Sarah Conner as some of the badass film heroines.

I prefer her slenderer, more nimble/wiry physique in the Millennium Trilogy, but for a movie about her kicking aliens' ass and the inevitable comparisons to Siguorney Weaver...she has gotten into a nice Linda Halmilton state of mind. Hope she tones down for Demeter though as a Victorian vampire victim should not look like a xenophobe destroyer in my opinion.

Ripley didn't really become a badass until Aliens. In Alien she was just a crew member dedicated to her job and who was up against one of the deadliest creatures man has ever encountered. She was a survivor. Not a warrior. And that's what I want to see return.

So, it is a prequel of sorts to Alien? I'm confused :csad:

I think it's going to be like X-Men: First Class.

Canon to the other films, but destroys the continuity.

100% agreed. I prefer Alien to Aliens ever so slightly, and what made Alien work is, at the time, you didn't know who would live. Ripley wasn't the clear main character, nor was she particularly skilled. But, she survived.

And isn't Theron the lead actress in Prometheus, or is Pace still that?

I'm one of the few it seems who isn't stoked for X:FC. It looks okay, but I've been disenchanted with the X-films. I was never really a big Singer's X-Men guy either.
