Women are accused of being "politically correct feminazis" every time they try to discuss discrimination that makes some people uncomfortable.

Gays and trans people are accused of having a "gay agenda."

Not so sure about immigrants, but the every group has an easy knee-jerk reaction associated with it.

I think the REAL lesson here is: Social Media sucks. That is all.

Not true at all - it depends on what people, groups or orgs you're following. There have been, and still are, some superior individuals and groups across various social media platforms that been on the scene since this incident went down providing excellent coverage.

Social media has been one of the leading platforms for getting all sides of the story out there from people actually living in Ferguson. CNN, MSNBC, etc. should be ashamed of their coverage.

A lot of women now days have BIG jobs, in high positions, depending on their skill levels I guess is completely fair to give them the equal opportunity. Same goes for blacks, and other minorities.

I don't understand same-sex marriage, but I am not against it either. Same with transgender.

Illegal immigrants isn't OK unless these people can't live if deported (prove you work hard and pay taxes then), but if you are legal and doesn't commit crimes you should stay.

Yes.

Because NOT every cop is bad or a racist, and we shouldn't fear that all of them or most of them are racists!

Not every customer is a theif and yet the average store has cameras.

Instead, we should have the mentality that most of them are still GOOD cops!

No. We should have the realistic and common sense mentality that they are human beings with flaws, not these infallible superheroes that you seem to think they are.

I think body cams are a great way of preventing police abuse, while also protecting officers from complaints. The benefits far outweigh the cons.

The only part about Wilson's testimony I find unbelievable is the part where he says Brown put his hand in his waistband right before charging him. The insinuation, obviously, is that he thought Brown was going to pull a gun from inside his pants and thus felt even more threatened.

Does anyone else think that this might be something that Wilson came up with later in order to make himself more justified in shooting?

I mean, I can believe the fight in the car, I can believe Brown running away, I can believe Brown turning and making some sort of movement back toward Wilson, but to add on the "reaching inside his shorts" part seems a little bit too...specious.

Honestly I can't believe any of it.

So Michael Brown shoves a cop back into a police car, begins assaulting him viciously (resulting in a case of mild rosacea), gets SHOT, runs away, and is pursued by a cop who was "in fear of his life", turns around, reaches as though he has a gun, and charges the cop, bullets bouncing off him like he's the Hulk?

Sounds like the climax to a poorly written action thriller.

And it conflicts with all the so-called "untrustworthy" eyewitnesses who say Michael Brown had his hands up.

Not to mention the fact that those numerous eyewitnesses were all saying this mere moments after the shooting whereas Officer Wilson had months to polish his action-packed fiction.

Yea I am black and what's going on in Ferguson is insane. Here in the U.S it does seem like cops can gun down black people and walk away scotch free. Now, We don't know what happened between Mike Brown and this cop but if the cop's so called injuries don't add up. All I know is if he lied and did something wrong he will still have to answer to God for it. But if Mike Brown did reach for a cops gun, then that wasn't to smart on his part. But looting and burning down stores solves nothing. It just reinforces negative black stereotypes.

However, I do think us black people in America should get just as outraged at black on black crime and stop walking around as negative stereotypes. Luckily, my parents told me at a young age about the dangers of hanging out in streets. But it does make me mad that whites claim that racism doesn't exist etc. I am 26 years old and i experienced a lot of racial profiling and racism. From being pulled over by cops because I drive a nice car, to being followed around a store because they thinking am trying to steal. Been mistreated at restaurants one time when I was out with a female friend who happened to be white and the list goes on. White people say they are tired of hearing about racism, well imagine how exhausting it is to have to LIVE IT every single day.

I trust that my brother is a good cop. I still would want him to wear a body cam. For the most part, I believe most on patrol officers are by themselves. So, there wouldn't be much conversation. And really, when you are on duty, there isn't much of a right to privacy.

This is what we African-American's go through on a daily basis. Do you have any idea what it feels like to be approached or pulled over by a cop as an African-American? We are always living under the rule that we need to act a certain way simply because of the color of our skin in order to feel safe. Even though it's well within our rights to question why we're being pulled over, questioned etc. we can't do that without feeling unsafe.

Meanwhile you as a non-AA person have the privilege of not having that same fear. Do you see how crazy and awful that is?

Racial profiling most definitely exists and it is appalling. My friend and room mate is black and by his count has been pulled over 30 something times in his hometown for no good reason. He is from a lower-class, racially divided small town in eastern Alabama so he gets it more than most would probably would.
But you know what? If at some point he were to commit a crime and be approached by an officer attempting to make an arrest, that has nothing to do with race and everything to do with the fact that he broke the law and will go to jail.
And if he is uncooperative and attempts to assault the officer, who is once again just doing his job, and makes an attempt for his gun?
It wouldn't be the craziest thing in the world if he got shot and killed. It'd be tragic, I'd be heartbroken and distraught, but I wouldn't chalk up his death to the color of his skin but to poor judgement on his part, and at the very worst, poor training on the officer's part.
People are filling in the gaps in this situation with whatever agenda they want to push. There are no facts whatsoever that say this was a racial thing; people see it that way because, once again, the media ran with the story from the beginning when dubious witness accounts were released saying Mike Brown was surrendering.

Sometimes it does have basis, but often it DOESN'T.

A line has been clearly crossed if it has caused major violence and unrest! While a lot people are looking at facts and evidence, calling it a cover up, yet can't prove it! There has to be a common sense to accept that our legal system is based on facts and evidences, instead of never-ending denial and skepticism on the police and justice.

Amazing that THAT is what gets you riled up, SJH.

I ask again: did you even read the quoted article outlining the problems with the investigation? This is the evidence from the grand jury, not nebulous "distrust." These are actual things that they did or did not do.

If you so firmly believe that Wilson was defending himself, then you must put a great deal of weight on the GJ evidence. So why do you refuse to actually look at it?

That is not what a grand jury is. A grand jury is twelve citizens who use the evidence presented to them. If test evidence is incomplete or faulty, then their decision is faulty. That is what we're talking about: Wilson changed his story, they never tested his gun, etc. ACTUAL THINGS THAT HAPPENED.
