Riots in Missouri - Part 2

They constructed the concept of a black race. There was no concept of a black race before the slave trade.

How does that make it irrelevant?

The African Slave trade resulted in the creation of the concept of a black race. I never said that in constructed the more general concept of "those people over there are different so they suck."
So you're seriously trying to tell me that no one had a concept of the black race before American slavery?

Good luck with that.

It's true. There wasn't a concept of a homogenous black race before the African slave trade. Europeans didn't look at people of African decent that way before the African slave trade. They viewed them as Moores or Ethiopians, but not as "blacks."

Oh, so you admit that they were classified, just not the way you like them to be classified?

What a joke. Semantics are fun, I guess.

The thing is, it isn't just happening in Furgeson. The events in Furgeson are one example of a wider trend which can be seen in almost every community in America, and that's what's being protested.

Ferguson's stuff is all out of whack, and I just used it because it's farther from where I live (nearish to Albany) than NYC, where the Garner case is unfolding. Frankly, while there's definitely a lot of ****ed up stuff about Brown's death, I feel that the community outrage was backing the wrong horse in that situation.

Facts don't matter. Race does.

I never said that they weren't classified, or that "black" was how I "like" them classified (whatever the hell that means).

You are, once again, putting words in my mouth.

I've quoted you MULTIPLE times with your own words. But you should just make that your signature. Maybe if you type it enough times, you'll make it be true!

And yet you don't seem to really understand any of the things you've quoted. I said that the concept of a black race did not exist before the African slave trade. You took that to mean that no one from outside of Africa every classified people from Africa as anything. You clearly misunderstood what I said.

According to some, Mike Brown was a victim instead of the strong armed robber and police assaulter he was deemed to be by people who were presented with all of the evidence.

So, because they didn't classify the Moores or Ethiopians as "the black race," it's not the same thing?

RIDICULOUS.

Not the same thing as what? What comparison are you talking about?

I'm talking about YOUR comparisons, Captain Doublespeak.

Moores, Etheopians...black people. = same thing depending on your semantics.

I wasn't making any comparisons. So, again, what comparisons are you talking about?

Moores, Etheopians...black people. = same thing depending on your semantics.

Yes, now, but not back then. There was no concept of a singular black race back then. The Moores and the Etheopians were looked at as two separate groups.

Much like Italians and Irish? But they're both white so screw them.

Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones................especially when they have thrown nothing but boulders at others. :o

Or a more apt comparison should be "those who rob stores or break the law shouldn't attack police or resist arrest."

But I guess some people are above the law, because...you know...oppression.

WHAT?

Which side of the debate are you even on here?
