Not exactly a celebrity, but wasn't sure if it needed it's own thread. So putting it here.

Judge Shiela Abdus-Salaam found dead in the Hudson river. She was the first black woman to serve on New York's highest court. Sad situation. I'm sure she inspired both female, and black judges that followed her.

Saw an article, CNN maybe? that speculated she may have jumped. Sad to think that someone would feel so bad that that was their only option.

That is sad. As you say, must have been an inspiration.

James is best known for portraying Sheriff J.W.Pepper in the two JAMES BOND movies LIVE AND LET DIE and THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN. He also appeared in other movies such as SUPERMAN II, SILVER STREAK, COOL HAND LUKE, THE LAUGHING POLICEMAN, and THE NEW CENTURIANS. He also appeared in many TV shows like GUNSMOKE, THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN, and DALLAS.

He was also a veteran of WWII who served in the Pacific battles and received 2 purple hearts and a silver star.

Cuba Gooding Sr. reportedly found dead in his car


Soul singer Cuba Gooding Sr. was found dead in his car Thursday in California, TMZ reports.

Gooding, who is the father of Academy Award-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr., was found in his silver Jaguar parked on Ventura in Woodland Hills. The fire department responded but failed to resuscitate him.

TMZ says they were told that police suspect he died of an overdose, but they don’t reveal a source.
