David Cassidy. It wasn't a complete shock because his organs failed a few days ago but still...RIP. I remember watching The Partridge Family on Nick at Nite back in the day.

Jim Nabors, who starred in the massive '60s hit 'Gomer Pyle,' died Thursday.

Nabors became famous as the bumbling deputy sheriff on "The Andy Griffith Show" and then went on to do his own show, which ran for 5 years.

He also appeared in movies, including "The Best Little ****ehouse in Texas" and "Cannonball Run II."

He also was an accomplished singer, who recorded 28 albums and scored 5 gold and 1 platinum records.

One of his iconic songs is the staple of the Indie 500 ... "Back Home Again in Indiana." He last appeared at the race in 2014.

Nabors was gay and long before social media there was gossip -- which was false -- that he secretly married Rock Hudson.

In real life, Jim was married to his partner of 40 years. They lived in Hawaii.

Nabors was 87.

RIP Mr. Nabors.

I was always a fan of Nabors. I remember him guest starring on THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW as Gomer before it was spun off into it's own show(a variation of the Andy Griffith movie NO TIME FOR SERGEANTS). It was amazing to watch him talking in his goofy high pitched southern accent voice and then start singing in his deep baritone. He was a funny guy.

RIP Mr. Nabors

Andy Griffith and Gomer Pyle were childhood staples. Goodnight, Jim. Thanks for all the laughs. Hope you reach that unreachable star.

"Shazam!"

I recall watching reruns of his show & Andy Griffith with my grandmother as a little kid. R.I.P.

Now he and Andy, and Aunt Bee are in that eternal Mayberry.

TRIVIA: Jim Nabors had a one-season daytime talk/variety show from 1977-1978. It was seen at 9:00 AM in New York at least on WCBS-TV channel 2. He was nominated for a Daytime Emmy award for "for Outstanding Host or Hostess in a Talk, Service or Variety Series."

the Eternal Mayberry has a lot of it's citizens: Gomer, Goober, Andy, Aunt Bee, Barney, Floyd the Barber, Helen Crump, Howard Sprague etc.

I think Ron Howard is the only one left.

The curse of being the youngest. :(

Indian film legend Shashi Kapoor has passed away.
