Rob Cohen to Direct The Mummy 3?

Rob Cohen? Ugh...I'd really much rather Joe Johnston to do it...but whatever...atleast it looks like its moving forward...they shouldn't do this without the original cast members...and I mean all of them. Except Voosloo if they go with a storyline that doesn't include his curse.

What's the point of a Mummy 3? The second one sucked! Sommers got lucky with the first Mummy, but everything else he has directed was crap! Rob Cohen is a pretty bad director as well.

i enjoyed the first 2, but i'll wait and see what this one shapes up like before i make any judgements

anyone else been on the mummy ride

I honestly didn't mind the first two. Sure ther weren't life changing movies or anything, but were just a bit of fun. If there is a third, I am indifferent to it. I may watch it, I may not...just one of those things.

Well Rob Cohen can make an entertaining movie. FF 1 was entertaining to me but XXX was truly atrocscious.

If Universal is wise , they won't rush The Mummy 3 like they did with the second movie. I 'still wonder what Stephen SOmmers was doing when he made The Mummy 2 cause it's miles apart from the first flick.

Anyways with different screenwriters and a new director , hopefully they can take the story into a fresh director .

I'd rather Joe Johnston myself. ohh well... Brenden Fraser is in need of a hit movie...I'm not suprised he wants to do another one.

And since the series so far has always had reincarnation and stuff.....what if the third one takes place in...The PRESENT... with Brenden playing a present ancestor to the O'Connell family. Cause really...they can't do anything with that relationship with his wife anymore...it's played out...and if it's about him and his teenage son...that would be just as bad as part 2

Wow, I didn't know so many people hated The Mummy Returns. I liked both films. But I don't see any need for a third.

You know i really hate movies that play out like that. Characters who look JUST like their great grandparents.

IMO they could just go with the Indiana Jones route and simply make it a fun adventure film where his wife is dragged on. That's the main thing and not his relationship with his wife.

Although he could fight for her affections when a rival comes along :cwink:

The first movie was a fun popcorn flick.
The second movie IMO was bad for these reasons

1 rush job ( as seen with the incomplete VFX)
2 bad script
3 SLOMO fighting ( post matrix every movie needed SLOMO )
4 not nearly enough chemistry between the characters

Wouldn't it be the ultimate nightmare if it was revealed Cohen IS directing Mummy 3....because Sommers is directing Watchmen.

The second one was atrocious... don't know what you guys were watching... anything with a little kid is gonna fail every damn time... temple of Doom the only exception

From the writer's of Smallvile and the director of Stealth

why don't we give it a Razzie now and avoid the rush?

They did that in Zorro 2....I didn't like it.

Ugh, does anybody remember "The Phantom" People keep trying to make films with the look and feel of 30's films.
It just isn't a good idea.:whatever:

Rob Cohen instead of Joe Johnson? LORD HAVE MERCY ON OUR SOULS! :(

First movie was good fun and intentionally cheesy disposable entertainment

The sequel was crap. Why not quit while you're behind? Instead they hire a worse director than before.

:csad: :csad:

I love The Phantom, and The Shadow. :D

Stephen Sommers is a much worse director than Rob Cohen and thats saying something bad because Cohen totally blows. So at least this Mummy movie by default will the best one...which says so much...

wow!! i really can't believe alot of you hated the second one.

I thought both movies were absolutely great!!! I'm happy to have both in my collection.

The first was scary sorta, which I liked, the second was more action, which I didn't mind. They both had great stories. I'd definitely say the second is up there with the first, in terms of quality.

I'm happy there's gonna be a third, I'd really like all the main characters to return.

I liked the Mummy movies but I think their heyday is over.....way too late to make a 3rd one.
