Robert Pattinson IS The Batman

I need to watch Nolan's trilogy again because that doesn't sound right.

Sadly, it's spot on. Not counting the "I don't have to save you," stuff (does not saving someone count as not killing them if you create the thing that requires their saving? hmm), he starts off his career by killing lord knows how many of the league of shadows (and almost certainly the guy they wanted him to execute as well), certainly a death count in the dozen+ range, and then talks over and over about his one rule. It's the whole theme of the second movie. He kills Talia in Rises with a pair of guns mounted on his bike. The movies have aged well in my mind, but I am still irked by how much they talked about the one rule yet had lots of killing. They did some good stuff with it - at least part of the reason he goes into retirement for 8 years is the weight of killing Harvey. Batman is wounded and doesn't have the strength to both save Harvey and stop him from killing Gordon's kid. So obviously this is a character who is bothered by killing - but he's not someone who abstains from it.

I've softened my stance on Batfleck a bit - if that's supposed to illustrate the very thing normal-canon Batman fears (basically "if I kill one, I'm never going to stop killing"), it's an interesting to see on film, but why in God's name they chose THAT as their attempt at a main DCEU batman is totally beyond me. That's Elseworlds stuff.

Agreed with many others here that I'm really looking for only two crucial things - 1) no killing and 2) lots of brainy detective work.

Right. It's really quite simple. Don't write scenes that involve manslaughter or accidental human deaths.

I don't think it's unreasonable to say that, for a character waging a personal war against the criminal under-belly, they would inevitably end up having to make this choice.
It's something worth exploring. Though its full impact would have to be later down the line when his rule has not only been firmly established, but presented explicitly as an unwavering belief.

Once that foundation is secure, sure --- have a crack at throwing projectiles that may shake those structures.

I agree whole-heartedly.

Batffleck copped so much with the Bale comparison it's laughable, Bale literally blew up the mall carpark, and Nolan played it as a funny moment, did they show he had x-ray vision in the deleted scenes? Cuz that spot he attacked could have been parental car parks or disability parks, and moms could have been putting their babies into the carseats when he cannoned at them.

Like, Batffleck at least was one that has already crossed the line and doesn't care for the criminals anymore "they're weeds," and he wasn't firing at civilians, whereas Bale blew up the shopping mall carpark then proceed to the interrogation room about his one rule, lol.

Still loved those movies, just the "Batffleck kills - it ruins my childhood" mentality over the last few years is unbelievable

rant over

There are plenty of great stories where he doesn’t. The entirety of Batman: The Animated Series, for one.

INTERVIEW | USA TODAY | Robert Pattinson Talks About ‘Twilight’ As ‘Warm Memories’ With Patrick Ryan – Robert Pattinson Worldwide

Here's an interesting change of mindset that may have led Pattinson towards accepting gearing into the spotlight once again with Batman. He said that while things were super intense during Twilight, he kinda warmed up to the fact of people and him having fond memories of his experiences in a massive franchise. And since Batman is more than likely not gonna be as **** movies as Twilight, he'll probably have a better time now.

WB has a tendency of releasing big movie news on Thursday or Wednesday, it seems.

Christian Bale announced as Batman in 2003: Thursday
Ben Affleck announced as Batman in 2013: Thursday
Matt Reeves to direct the Batman in 2017: Thursday
Announcement of release date for The Batman: Wednesday.

Maybe Wednesday or Thursday this week.

I think (sadly for me) there will be a Superman re-cast, 'cos I just don't see RP gelling with HC as Batman & Superman at all on-screen, HC & BA seemed to compliment each other visually as these two important characters, but I simply cannot see RP/HC on screen as B&S together.

Cast Nicholas Hoult as Superman next to Battinsons.

Yeah its true.

Begins:
- states that he wont kill the prisoner so he blows up the compound of the entire league and fake ras al ghul
- dont have to save you scene with real ras

Dark knight:
- crushes the truck with his batmobile
- kills two face

Dark knight rises:
- shoots the drivers and talia getting them to crash

Bottom line is that we have never had a batman that hasnt killed. Batman and robin doesnt count.

How have none of you guys even mention the gold standard of Batsuits yet?

Schumacher and Snyder suits are basically the same to me in their want to depict some "ideal" body type. Just different approaches.

We’re also gearing up for a long weekend in the US, so maybe they won’t announce until next week?

Who knows? I hope they announce sooner rather than later. I mean based on what Battinson is saying it sounds like he’s definitely in negotiations at least.
