I'm worried that if this movie is a hit, I won't be able to watch late night TV without being bombarded by commercials for "Throbbin' Wood" on pay-per-view.

I think someone else should've been cast as Robin Hood. I think Ridley Scott should've been more careful with Crowe's costume. His haircut and beard are basically the same he had for Gladiator. When I saw the RH trailer someone sitting close to me said: "Looks like Gladiator 2 but in Medieval times." and he was right. They should've changed his appeareance.

Asides from that, I loved the trailer. Can't wait to see this.

Yeah, that's my only complaint, really... they should have given him a different look. But I'm down with the idea of a slightly older Robin Hood. To lead an army, you have to have a sense of gravitas. It's easier to believe that an army would follow someone older.

I'm just not psyched for this movie. When I first heard about Nottingham, I was really excited. The idea of portraying a sympathetic Sheriff of Nottingham who was a Javert-esque character, torn between duty and virtue and being unable to grasp that an outlaw can be righteous was an outstanding concept.

Then news started to leak that it would be the Sheriff secretly moonlights as Robin Hood, my interest dropped a little, but I thought, "Hey, its Crowe and Scott, its gotta be good." Then they dropped the whole pretense of a clever concept all together and decided to just do Robin Hood meets Gladiator and I lost all interest. :

I totally forgot about that Nottingham version...I recall finding that approach to be very interesting.

Having said that Mr. Crowe is gonna have alot of work to do, Kevin Costner is MY Robin Hood...American accent and all.

Its actually a shame that he never got to play him in a serious Robin Hood movie as he was born for the role.

Yeah, that original Nottingham idea would've been awesome. I also liked the rumor that Robin was going to be a medieval terrorist-like figure.

I mean with the whole Nottingham concept, the whole thing was to be told in the Sheriffs point of view, right? So its not that Robin Hood was a terrorist, its just that's how the Sheriff saw him...correct?

^I don't know, perhaps it was just the sheriff's view of him. I just remember that Robin was supposed to be some kind of terrorist and I think Christian Bale was rumored to play him.

I'm pretty sure it was just the way the Sheriff percieved him. If I'm not mistaken, in the Nottingham script, the Sheriff was a good man, who simply believed that upholding law and order, regardless of who the king was, was ultimately what was right as opposed to Robin Hood's tactics.

Yeah, I wonder why they nixed the Nottingham idea. Crowe himself was supposedly really high on it. I guess they felt the script was completely unusable... but I'm sure there would have been a way to make it work.

The script was good. I think Ridley Scott has just passed his prime and is becoming sort of old and senile. It was far from unusable. The script and how it started is why this movie got made. Scott just completely ruined the concept of the script which was something different with the material at least.

The trailer with Iron Man 2 was OK but the movie comes out IN LESS THAN A WEEK! And just now they are releasing their better trailer in theatres. That's pathetic.

The studio knows this movie is going to bomb, I think they are just trying to cut their losses.

Why did Russell Crowe completely change around the concept of the movie? I don't get it.

Just FYI, the buzz on this movie is dead. Nikki Finke was talking about it on the radio tonight and said this movie will be DOA.

It was nixed because both Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe thought the script was horrible.

“When I read that particular script, and no disrespect to the guys who wrote it, but it kind of read like ‘CSI: Sherwood Forest’. And I just wasn’t into doing that. It wasn’t interesting to me in that incarnation,” said Crowe.

Added director Ridley Scott: “It was ridiculous. It was terrible, a page-one rewrite. If you’re going to invest in a ‘Robin Hood’ story, why call it ‘Nottingham’? You’d end up spending 80 percent of the publicity budget on explaining why it’s ‘Nottingham’, not just ‘Robin Hood’. It doesn’t make any sense.”

I still loved the duel role concept, although how the hell would he have been able to mask his identity to both parties? If they could have realistically gotten past that part, that to me would have been fun to see. This just has a one dollar rental all over it for me. Scott's movies haven't lived up to the talent as of late.

Crowe doesn't give audiences enough credit to know why it would be called Nottingham.

But yeah, I personally think this is doomed to fail.
