RoboCop Returns?

So is this one of those 'sequels without a sequel-ish title' ala Rocky Balboa or Rambo? Or a Remake, or a reboot, or what?

I hope its a continuation kind of of the first two kind of like Superman returns was kind of a continuation of Donners superman movies

I tought it's pretty much confirmed that this movie takes place 20 years or so after the first Robocop. So it's a sequel but also a start of a new Robocop. So it's a requel. But I guess it could be called a "reboot", since we are talking about a machines and they sometimes need reboots... But anyway, I wonder what the new Robocop will look like. And wouldn't it be cool if the old Robocop would make a camoe or something. He would be in stacked in some warehouse all broken and stuff, and the new Robocop would turn him on (not in any weird way) to gain some information or something or whatever. They could cast Peter Weller again. Oh, and what happened to that Arnokofsky's movie The Ark? It was about Noah, I think and I even saw a production photo of the ark.

I like that idea of a new robocop and not that same slow walking robot we got from the 90's. It was cool than but it make no sense to have a robot that slow. They probably gonna take Iron man as reference(yeah I know its not a robot) to make robocop. For sure a cameo of the old robot is a most.

Well if its a sequel and actually murphy's robocop returning i doubt we will see a new robocop. Just the old one probably getting modified with new tech. But since there is very little known and technically havent gotten a official answer on sequel/remake status we have to wait and see how things turn out.

That would make sense considering Ironman was the inspiration behind Robocops look back in '87

Why would Murphy return? he didn't since the 2nd movie. Murphy was great but it's not like he is not replaceable? + the guy is old now. There is so many that can do this stuck-up role anyways.

I always thought that Robo's look was inpsired by the female robot in Metropolis?

He is.

As well as Judge Dredd, Iron Man, ROM Spaceknight, some Japanese show I forget the name of....

i was saying before we have no clue if this new robocop will be a new cop turned into robocop or if alex murphy is robocop still.

Ah...........ROM.

If ever there was a perfect character for Rob Liefield to draw -he's it.

No hands or feet.

Alex Murphy was in all tree movies and the series. As far as I know he was the only Robocop.
You may be thinking of Peter Weller, the actor who originally played Robocop in the first two movies.

The most important thing is that Murphy's personality is re-established. At the end of the original 1987 movie, Murphy was essentially re-awakened, and triumphed over the machine.
("Nice shooting, son, what's your name?" "Murphy.") In the sequels, this is ignored and he's just an emotionless cyborg again.

QFT. That always pissed me off. It makes the end of the 1st one irrelavent and as a result I am not very optimistic about the future of Alex Murphy.

I can actually see Robocop Rebooted or whatever being quite a kickass, crazy cyberpunk action movie. 'Realistic' and gritty in the modern style, but with the robotics taken to a completely new level. RoboCop has got to be able to run now, faster than a human can. We can actually do that in real life, give a man who is missing limps mechanical devices to make him outrun a normal man. All that stuff needs to factor in to RoboCop.

Aronofsky directing Robocop. Yeah, I'm seeing this one.

I don't expect Murphy to be in this one. 20 years later, Murphy's probably in the ground and for whatever reason they've decided to bring back the Robocop program.

Murphy will be in this one, and it does take place 20 years later.
What would be the point of making Robocop mortal and putting him in the ground?

As far as I am concerned, this IS the REAL Robocop 3.

What makes you so sure?

If the Robocop program has been suspended, chances are they haven't kept Murphy around.

Aronofsky....i´m sold...totally sold.
But i was hoping for a restart, rather than a continuation of the trilogy, but...oh well...

I disagree. His dialogue in Robocop 2 was very much suggestive of Murphy having won his humanity. Discounting when they screwed up his directives, he spoke the way he should have: he was obviously still human, but nonetheless affected by his cybernetic condition, as you would expect. There was no chance of him ever acting fully human again, and it would be inappropriate if he did. Robocop 2 had him at a happy medium. He was angry when he should have been, sad when he should have been, he even made half-jokes sometimes.

I would expect this film (assuming it being a sequel is true) would see Murphy regress to the near-emotionless state of the original. If the program has been terminated for twenty years, that probably means OCP has had him on ice in a warehouse somewhere. Being treated as hardware, cut off from all human contact, and "decommissioned" for twenty years is bound to affect one's temperament.
