This remake will probably be different enough that I may enjoy it.

There are so many other movies to remake, like rediculous 50s movies that could be amazing if taken more seriously and with todays technology. why waste time with a movie thats fine on its own? like i know this has a built in fanbase but jeeze at least if you're going to be orignal serve a purpose

Never seen it. Figured it couldn't be as bad as ROBOCOP 2. Wanted to see how it all ends.

I can't believe that you hadn't at least heard of how bad R3 is. Robocop 2 was the result of people with good intentions trying to recreate the spirit of the first film, and coming up short. It had the right pieces, but they just didn't add up the way they were supposed to. It's wit was lacking and they tried so hard at capturing the over-the-top nature of the first film that the film came out as just strung together sequences of unimportant violence. In the end, it was half-baked.

RoboCop 3 on the other hand, was the result of studio deciding they could sell toys if they made RoboCop: The Babysitter, rated PG-13, where RoboCop drives a pimpmobile, catches bullets, is not Peter Weller, fights ninja androids, is not Peter Weller, shoots at the pavement instead of the criminals, is outfitted with gun arms and jetpacks to sell toys, is not Peter Weller, and has an eight year-old sidekick who can hack sophisticated machines from her laptop. And he's not Peter Weller. It has none of the right pieces, except in embarrassing trace amounts. Where RoboCop 2 was half-baked, RoboCop 3 never made it to the oven.

Also, there was no goddamn Peter Weller.

This post had me cracking up. Peter Weller is Robocop to me. It's not impossible to replace him I guess but good f**king luck.

offtopic.

is there a a making of video of robocop's make up? i mean without the helmet. this has to be a visual trick. because it really looks like skin streched over robotic face.

I think Frank Miller got what made Robocop work, but the studio screwed him over big time and butchered his story. I recommend reading the comic book he did that was released by Avatar, if I'm not mistaken. It's an unaltered version of what his original idea was. I liked it, and thought it would have been one hell of a story to see on screen.

Wrong. The studio hired Walon GReen, because Frank Miller's script was bad. He SAVED the movie.

Don't forget to mention that Robocop wasn't played by Peter Weller in R3. I think you just glazed over that note there.

But I agree with you. I though enjoyed Robocop 2. Yeah, it was trying it's best to capture the first film but feel short on the mark, but it was still a decent film. For the longest time I seriously thought there was a drug called Nuke and that you squirted it in your neck. And the 13 year old drug dealer/side boss kid. He was cool. His death was pretty shocking I thought at the time.

But Robocop 3....I remember the cyborg ninjas and the death of what's her name and the girl who was a hacker.....sadly I wish I didn't even remember that much.....and Peter Weller wasn't Robocop.

I read somewhere that Rutger Hauer,(Verhoeven's actor up to Robocop) really resented the fact that Verhoeven didn't hire him for the part and that it not only broke their professional relationship but also their friendship.
But Hauer was too big to fit in the armor and Verhoeven needed a skinny actor, hence Weller who was great in the part.

I actually saw RoboCop 3 in theatres and it was one of the most heartbreaking experiences of my life. Never saw it since then though.

:lmao: Your avy along with "back to da cahpet". Bravo.

I know a lot of people bag R2, but i like it, it use to be one of my favourite movies when i was young and still is to this day, it isnt the first but it still has its place, not like R3.
but the worst was the tv series, that was the biggest load of horse **** i have ever seen in my life, they are still trying to flog off those horrible ''pug face morgan'' toys in bargain bins all over the world, i never thought robo would recover from such a mess.

The only good thing about Robocop 3:

Jill Hennesey.

Robocop 2 has its' moments.

Robocain is awesome as hell. And still just as scary as when I was a kid. Especially the warehouse scene.

Well I don't really think that I will have any say in the matter but I just think that some movies shouldn't be remade and this happens to be one of them.

I don't think that most directors understand what made Robocop work...hell, I don't think that most people period understand what made Robocop work.

The first Robocop movie is a satire, practically a black comedy. It's not some straight dark metaphysical action filck. Thats what I think DA is going to do with it judging by his pass work.

Actually, there were serious metaphysical elements in the original film. Plenty of them. Didn't Verhoeven compare Murphy to Jesus? There was also Murphy struggling with the issues of his family and his memories, as well as the internal struggle between "man" and "machine."

I never understood Robocop 2..and how the OLD MAN was so nice in the first movie, then a bastard in the second film. Out of no where.

The old man was so nice in the first movie? He watched one of his employees not only murdered but ripped to shreds by Ed-209's guns yet all he was bothered about were the insurance payments, he wasnt nice at all.

Spot on spot on:cwink:

Yeah, the Old Man was still an evil corporate bastard, he was just LESS of an evil corporate bastard when compared to the other people in his company who were making deals with drug lords.

Have we gotten any info about the new movie, by the way, beyond "Darren Aronofsky is making it?"

Last I heard, Aronofsky isn't doing this. I was wondering why it got bumped up.

So I guess this is canned? There's been no progress on it for months.
