Rocky 6

I wouldn't count on that. When I saw Casino Roayle opening night there were people laughing and going "Oh no," when the music started. They were quiet through most of the rest of the trailer and when it ended there was HUGE LAUGHTER. I mean I've never heard so many people laugh at a trailer. And in an early sold out theater everyone was talking very loudly and I've never heard so much NEGATIVE buzz after a trailer ends as people were mocking it and yelling at the screen.

I'm indifferent about it (first two good, 3 and 4 okay, 5 sucked) but 60+ year old Rocky fighting is ridiculous. I'm just passing the hugely negative reaction it got at my theatre because that is usually, a really bad sign then.

That's the whole point of the movie. There seems to be a general idea that when ppl get older they need to step back instead of going the distance in whatever field they're at. Let them laugh (it also depends in which part they were laughing because if they were laughing in the 80's line, it's supposed to make them laugh...lol), Sly is gonna prove them all wrong.
I think if any 60 year old man was in Sly's physical condition it's totally believable that not only he could fight but he could held his own in the ring with a younger guy.

I've gotta say...I am TOTALLY looking forward to this movie!

The best part about it is you KNOW it gonna be WAY better than Rocky V so they'll go out on a high note!

Plus, it was smart to sneak a commercial for it in the Ohio State/Michigan game on Saturday.

Yeah. I'm sure Sly could kick many of the Hype's asses, including mine :p

Rocky is younger than Sly is - I believe he's supposed to be 50 - 55, not 60.

With a budget of $25m or so, this movie is going to profit along the lines of the SAW films and HOSTEL. Especially with DVD.

Word of mouth will also help this film. People will laugh at first, but then word will get out that it's actually a good, realistic take on an older boxer like George Foreman and Evander Holyfield coming out of retirement to fight again. I've read the script, it's darn good.

Meh, I don't care if a few people laughed at the trailer. I know some who laughed at the Batman Begins trailer and was there opening night to see it.

Has there been any word on what ending Sly is going to use? If I remember correctly, didn't he say that he filmed like 3-5 different endings?

There were four endings shot in Vegas.

1-Rocky wins by Split Decision.
2-Rocky wins by Unanimous Decision.
3-Dixon wins by Split Decision.
4-Dixon wins by Unanimous Decision.

I think Ending #3 would probably be the right one from what I've seen so far. But we'll see.

Yeah, I'm guessing that one too
Losing by split decision gives Rocky the chance to retire with dignity, and if he wins, there is no way this franchise stops :p

That's the one that it's rumored to be it. Maybe Sly will pull an "Exorcist Pre-quel" and release two DVD versions with

The theatrical cut with Rocky losing by a split decision and the other version having Rocky win by split decision. Heck, maybe we'll see all the endings on the special features section. :woot: While it will be tough to see Rocky lose, I think #3 is the best ending for the franchise IMO

I think it's also the ending that will be most likely to shut up the people who think the movie's existence is somehow comedy gold. If he went with ending 1 or 2, he's more likely to be mocked.

Hey has anyone else thought of this. Why doesn't Stalone find some cgi company and digitally cut and paste Talia Shire's performance from Rocky V into Rocky Balboa? It's still good.

Why would he have to do that? It's not like she's dead or something. If he wanted her in the movie, he could've easily given her a part.

err, because she originally did have a part, but decided not to return to the role.

I was reading the latest issue of Empire last night. It mentioned Rocky VI and that it could potentially recieve some kind of Oscar nod. I am guessing for best screenplay, but it's good signs to me.

Well, the year hasn't been that good and many predicted favorites (The Queen, Bobby, The Fountain) have been met with horrible results and other favorites (The Prestige, Babel) have only gotten so/so results. That is why movies like Borat will get nominations in major categories even if it isn't your traditional Oscar movie (mind you though, it will be The Departed's year).

But yea, if Sly could put together a script and performance like he did with the first two, then there is a very good chance he will get another nomination this year.

That's true, things haven't really panned out the way we all thought this year. To be honest, I have never really fully agreed with what the Oscars are about and the way they execute their ideas of what a good movie is. But it'd be nice for RB to nominated for something due to everyone (including myself) writing this movie off as a bit of a joke, like the latter Rocky movies had become.

I might have a chance to check-out an early viewing of ROCKY BALBOA tonight and meet Sylvester Stallone himself - I'll know in a few minutes..............

Maybe Stallone will get another best actor nod for this. That would be cool.

CONFIRMED!!

Going to see the film tonight as well as meet Sly himself - should be pretty cool....

Doubtful.

Even if the movie is good, i doubt he will get this nomination again. His time is gone.
