Nah. I don't think Mason would have stood a chance with any of those guys in their prime. And the same goes for Tommy Gunn as well.

Substance D, lets not personal insult at others while debating, otherwise I have to give you coal for x-mas

I think Mason would wipe the floor with Tommy - Tommy didn't have the "heart" of a fighter. He was just a buncha rage.

Tommy and Mason were both similar in some respects, mainly because they were champions who felt they were not getting the respect they felt they rightly deserved for being the champion of the world from the public. Tommy was shown to have quite a winning streak, so I think he was a pretty decent fighter, if not unfocused. But the same could be said for Clubber as well.

By the way, did anyone think it was a really nice touch to have Apollo's trainer, training Rocky?

Everyone including myself in the theater went nuts when they saw his name at the press conference and knew who he was. Gotta love the neck pop.

WOW!

I'm suprised at how much I actually liked this film! It was absolutely, 100% amazing!

ROCKY ROCKY ROCKY ROCKY!!!!!

Just got back from watching the movie and I thought it was GREAT! I have to admit that my eyes welled up a bit when
Rocky started crying.
I'm so happy Stallone got the chance to have a better conclusion for Rocky. Very uplifting film and I highly recommend it!

Stallone gets a big smile and two thumbs up! :woot:

This film represents the closure that this film series needed.

It is the perfect bookend to the Rocky saga and ended the way it begun: a bittersweet love story that was more about the saga of the trials and tribulations of human spirit and will than it was about boxing.

If you was not a fan of the original Rocky then this film is not for you. But if you are then it was a complete success and ended really the only way that it could while being true to the character.

The original Rocky and the whole series was flawed: some movies more than others but that is why I feel that, the boxing aside, it was something the common person could relate to.

Rocky the character represented something that we all can identify in ourselves: A flawed life looking for redemption, pursuing happiness and seeking peace.

Just like life itself, the Rocky saga was filled with ups and downs, successes and failures, smiles and regrets.

Who knew that this series would end up being an metaphor for stuggles of life from youth to old age.

Some movies come out and don't deserve their praise to me but get it anyway... And that pisses me off a lot sometimes to see some average movie recieve praise like it was really something momentous or whatever when I boot up the internet.

This here, this film. This movie. It's, I'm trying to find good enough words to describe it... it really is that good. I mean, for me it was not just uplifting, but passionate and honest. I love those things in movies. I haven't seen a film like this in a long long time. It made me feel like I was just a little innocent kid again, it's that good. I don't wan to overrate it, but it deserves praise. It truly does.

I want to thank all of you talk-backers. We were hoping to do 2 million dollars last night, and considering the horrible weather that is sweeping the nation, we'd be lucky to get that. Instead, and I attribute it to all the readers of aintitcool.com, we did a little over six million, which has all the financial film analysts in this country in bewilderment and awe. You made an old lion roar proud today. Thank you.

That's simply fantastic news! I truly hope that Rocky Balboa becomes an overwhelming success, so Sly and fans across the world can stick it to those critics and analysts who didn't believe in the spirit of an underdog and champion!

Just saw the movie and really dug it. I'm so happy Rocky 5 wasn't the end to the series. This is the proper way to end it.

I liked the end when CLint Eastwood came to visit him in the hospital and smotherd him with a pillow

Same here...this scene completely caught me off guard. Same with Paulie in the beginning of RB and his remiscing about Adrian. This was a far more emotional movie expereince than I had anticipated.

I was on the edge of my seat during the final round! I LOVED the realistic approach but like others, I wish it was longer. :csad:

Overall...my final rankings:

Rocky
Rocky Balboa
Rocky IV (the 1st Rocky movie I was ever exposed to)
Rocky III
Rocky II
.
.
.
.
.
.
.Rocky V

I like how people seem to hate on rocky 5 but if it weren't for rocky 5 this movie would be no where near as good as it is. Rocky 5 set up for everything in Rocky Balboa, from not being rich, to his relationship with his son, etc... Don't get me wrong Rocky 5 isn't my favorite Rocky but I can appriciate it... Anyway I'm tired so all I'll say is Rocky Balboa gets a

Just got back from seeing it and must say that it's the perfect ending to a saga.

I especially loved....
the part where Duke was talking about training Rocky for "blunt trauma" instead of speed

Everyone in the theater got excited.

People in my theatre went crazy for that scene, they cheered for him training and chanted ROCKY ROCKY during most of the fight, I felt like I was at a real fight. The movie was surprisingly much better than I thought it'd be and glad Rocky ended this way. Now, I wonder how he'll bring back Rambo.

when luca says hed have no chance in his prime?

is he refering to rocky having no chance against mason in their prime or dixon

I took it as he meant Dixon wouldnt have stood a chance against Balboa in his prime.

i must admit that i thought that since this movie was made so that sly can make some money that it will be a piece off s.... but i was suprised. this is how it should have ended.

i was so lucky that in the movie rocky doesnt fight because he needs money but because he wants to have the last figh. i am also happy that at the end the black guy wins not rocky. and what was the best part of the end of the movie is that rocky didnt care about who wins. it was about the last fight. he won.

ok then rocky 4 should never have been made so that we would get rocky 5 in rocky 4 :woot:

this movie was very good. Sly Stallone did an excellent job with this film. i never expected such great acting from Stallone, especially the scenes where he cries to Paulie, where he's at the hearing concerning his boxing license, and the ones with his son. it was a perfect way to end the Rocky franchise. i can't wait to buy the 6 dvd set next year!!
