Rocky 6

"When Rocky was diagnosed with brain damage, it must be noted that many athletes have a form of brain damage including football players, soccer players, and other individuals in contact sports such as rugby, etc. Rocky never went for a second opinion and yielded to his wife's wishes to stop. So with the advent of new research techniques into brain damage, Rocky was found to be normal among fighters, and he was suffering the results of a severe concussion. By today's standards Rocky Balboa would be given a clean bill of health for fighters." Sylvester Stallone, 2006 (aintitcoolnews.com interview), available at http://www.aintitcool.com/node/30861.
wow that was amazing. of course they want to explain it :whatever:.

what about rocky 5 ? what about rocky shacing after the fihgt? what about the last fight at the end of the movie when he is on the ground and he sees micky. i thought they wanted to show the brain damage. but hey. they explained it.

Well...if they didn't explain it there'd prolly be a lot of fanboy b****ing. Sadly, in some cases even the explaination isn't good enough for some people.

there was no need for an explanation. they just thought that rocky 5 was the last one. they made a mistake because 16 later sly wanted again to fight. ofcourse tehy explained it. but its still dumb. poor boxars who couldnt fight 16 years ago. and its all the fault of the doctors :o

Sly wanted Rocky to fight again because he felt (as did many fans) that Rocky V was a poor way to end the series.

So yeah of course Sly had to explain it, doesn't make it dumb. At least he's acknowledging that Rocky V happened, if it were me, I would just ignore it completely.

And it wasn't the doctors fault per se, it was in a way Rocky's fault in V for not getting a 2nd opinion. He just conceded to the decision of the first set of doctors and Adrian's pleas for him to stop.

It would be "plausable" to assume that had he gotten a 2nd opinon in V that he would've been diagnosed w/ a severe concussion...as Sly says.

I mean c'mon, after the fight w/ Tommy Gunn in the street was Rocky sent to the hospital? No...he was fine.

look to me in rocky 5 they wanted us to feel through the whole movie that he has a brain damage.

Saw the movie the other day. Thought it was pretty good. The only thing I wish that had been done a little better was a few more flashbacks to Mickey. I know they did that in the montage where it shows a quick flash of him saying "Run over him!" But I kinda wish they did a few more like that during the montage or during some other points in the film. Other than that, it was a overall real good movie, I was never a huge fan of the Rocky movies but I liked this. And as it has been said numerous times before, Rocky's speech to his son was probably the most powerful moment in the saga since the first three movies.

What was everyone's favorite moment??? I think mine was the beginning with the
"Take you Back" Doo Wop in the credits.

I don't think that was necessary to put in spoiler tags, but anyway. My favorite moment was during the fight in between rounds Rocky has a quick flash back to Mickey screaming at him "RUN OVER HIM!"

i loved the movie. they should just remove rocky 5 completed and replace it with RB. if i could change anything about RB it would be that 'one line' in the fight scene that makes everyone get the chills...Like in Rocky "comon creed, comon creed" . Rocky 2 "I aint goin down no more". id have to watch rocky 3 and 4 again to hear those..but in rocky 2 especially, I aint going down no more, that got me going. maybe in the 10th and final round of RB his son or paulie(my choice) could have gotten in his face and said something that related to all the movies in a way...gave him the "eye of the tiger' for one last round. when the bell rang and rocky landed that last punch it shoulda knocked Dixons ass out. that was a small disappointment.

Nah...I like it the way it ended with Rocky matching Dixon blow for blow til' the final bell.

^He did have one good line during the fight, which was right when the last round started:

Dixon - "You're one crazy old man"
Balboa - "You'll get there..."

that was amazing . :woot:

Dude, forget Rocky 5, I just pretend it never existed, like most of the Star Wars prequels.

I just watched it online i thought it was going to be **** but i really enjoyed it. Good on ya Rocky :D

^Exactly. It delivered..........

Indeed and it built up the suspense really well, i loved the ending
where they announced Dixon the winner but the crowd were to busy congratulating Rocky :)

I pretty much orgasmed my testosterone all over the theater during the Mickey flash.

Same I saw it online, I thought it was simply excellent and I'm not really the biggest Rocky fan... when it opens here, I'm dragging me and dozens of others to watch this... I just LOVE how this movie has such a STRONG MORAL center... it's so hard to find movies now a days or just releasing now a days that don't preach but yet convey so much in terms of moral goodness and staying to survive in this world without being holier than thou... if anything, it's done so simply and that's what makes it so much more poignant... dunno if that makes any sense... but I thought it was an excellent film

I thought ROCKY BALBOA was moderately enjoyable, but has become amazingly overrated. It's fun, sometimes it's even great, but it has some big flaws that keep it from getting to the top (one crucial one being an entirely flaccid, overdirected fight).

What do you mean by "overdirected"? I thought the fight was the best in the series. I mean I love Rocky IV fight as it was the best for sheer entertainment value and why its my most enjoyable but RB's was the most realistic and drama inducing....

Could you elaborate on your thoughts about the fight? I'm very curious...

Instead of letting the fight play out, Stallone throws us into weird editing, in-and-out of SIN CITY vision, weird camera filters... stuff that's clearly meant to dazzle, but ends up distracting from the drama. Stallone would have done much better to just present an intensely choreographed fight and dropped all the unnecessary flashy stuff.

I liked it.
I was like that for a reason.

You're not the first person to think that RB copied Sin City...if anything, its the other way around.

From Rocky III (1983)

i hope you dont think that he copyed this from sin city.
