I'm not really into the whole macho persona he seems to put off. It maybe the same with way I can't stand, Arnold,Van Damme,Seagal,etc.

I watched the trailer and it's awesome, too bad younger folks probably won't flock to it because it doesn't star pretty boys like Paul Walker or Orlando Bloom.

But this movie will definitely get me going and rooting for 'ol Rock.

If anyone has seen F.I.S.T,Cop Land,Lock Up,First Blood and more you will know that Sly's range as an actor is very underrated.He himself is an indelible spirit that will not be held down,like many of his characters.The ultimate hollywood underdog,who has been counted out numerous times in the past 30 years only to come back out on top.and he'll do it again come dec.22

I've always thought that he was vastly underrated.

Even the type of action films he's known for require a ton of hard work. They're 10x more demanding than most give them credit for being.

Orlando Bloom as one of the boxer's rocky fights? I wouldn't want him in the movie.

I've never experienced Rocky on the big screen. I'm glad that it's coming to fruition on December 22nd, 2006. Hopefully they'll use the "Gonna Fly Now" music as he's running on the streets, and to see him speed up while running with the theme playing loudly and truimphantly might make me shed a tear.

I think he should win at the end and then when Rocky VII opens they should play Eye of the Tiger and show a montage of Rocky ripping through the top 10 fighters along with clips of him on the Oprah show, David Letterman, and a commercial promoting the Rocky Balboa Grill.

Then we see the image of a young man training and that man is the son of Apollo Creed played by...Will Smith!

im surprised people give a **** about this film. rocky 1-3 was great. afterwards it sucked. i doubt the genral audience are that hyped up about this film. I'll skip out on this, not really interested in the character anymore. the franchise has really run it's course.

You may be surprised and you may not be interested in seeing it but there is no reason to doubt that there is serious hype about this film. Its already being demonstrated across the web.

I believe you are right. Its amazing that I grew up watching the Rocky movies and I never really thought about it but the series has become a chronicle of the life of pug, a guy who got one shot, took it, and has rode its success right up to the twilight years of his life while facing lifes ups and downs along the way.

Ironically, this has been the life of Stallone and a life that many of us can identify with.

As I face the spectre of middle age, you begin to realize that there are many things that you can no longer do. Not just because of physical or mental limitations but also because our society denies certain opportunities from you due to age and other factors as well.

This movie will be nice because we all would like to get just one last chance at whatever it may be just to show the world and more importantly to prove to ourselves: I know I have something left to be great if for only one moment.

Great post. I think what's really been great about his series is that more than any other sequels (they call themselves sequels but most of the times they don't really bring something new) is that we've able to follow this great character's life through these movies and each movie brings a new stage at the character's life (even V that sometimes get's unfairly criticized - how many fighters have gone throught that ? He was being realistical and I'm glad that he returned to character's roots instead of going the super-hero way like in IV) and in a lot of ways it's been like following a great friend of a family member. We know him so well.
And later this year it will be a pleasure to see him one more time and let him inspire us all once again.

Rocky 1 and Rocky 2 I feel are the best of the bunch. After that,it slowly went downhill. I think Rocky 3 would've only been decent if Mr. T wasn't there. In the beginning I almost wanted Clubber to kick Rocky's ass. Rocky 4 is my least favorite of the Rocky saga because you can tell it came from the 80's. Rocky's speech at the end was borderline 1980 cheese. And I'm one of the few that was actually entertained by Rocky 5. Probably because at that point the movies went full circle,I dunno.....

With Rocky 6,I dunno. I like that Stallone is poking fun at his own age,but at the same time I feel like this movie is only happening because the guy wants some quick cash. Now,I saw the trailer and it DOES look good,but it just feels like Stallone is only doing this and the next Rambo because there's not much else for him. I'll still go see it on opening weekened because I'm a huge Rocky fan. Just my two cents.....

I'm glad we're getting another rocky, this time hopefully a great finish to the series instead of a slow spiral to the gutter.

This is stallone's chance to redeem the franchise once and for all.

The final round, in fact... Either go the distance or well.. we'll just have another crappy rocky movie.. heh

Rocky losing the fight by decision, then visiting Adrienne's grave and yelling out "Yo Adrienne...WE DID IT!"

Granted he shot something like 5 different endings, so there's no way of really knowing which one will be attached to the theatrical version until December.

I never saw his Rocky character as macho, because he always trying to find or earn respect. In Rocky 2 he wanted to get a normal job but everyone wanted him to box.

rocky IV is just as much a classic as the first 3 films. rocky V is the only one that sucked in any way.
