rocky IV is just as much a classic as the first 3 films. rocky V is the only one that sucked in any way.
Tommy Gun was from oklahoma in that movie.

If Rocky VI isn't the best thing since Scarlett Johanson's chest, heads are gon' roll!

Plus, how can anyone not like Rocky IV? Considering this is a superhero forum, and of all the Rocky films, Rocky IV is the closest to being a superhero film. You have the invincible villain, the death of a friend, an awesome training sequence, the hero overcomes the odds, corny 1980's music! etc. etc. What more do you want??!?!?!

maybe they'd prefer if the film had starred Rocky the Flying Squirrel instead of Stallone??? :(

Some great posts here, very nice.

Good stuff posting that dialogue between Rocky and Duke Bad Supes, that's one of my favorite exchanges along with Adrian's speech on the beach to Rocky in Rocky III.

Thank IMDB for that. :D Yeah, Rocky and Adrian's exchange is one of the best moments of Rocky III (my favorite of the series).

im surprised people give a **** about this film. rocky 1-3 was great. afterwards it sucked. i doubt the genral audience are that hyped up about this film. I'll skip out on this, not really interested in the character anymore. the franchise has really run it's course.

Believe it or not many people do enjoy the Rocky franchise.

there's a nice tribute to the original films I thought some here would be interested in. :D
well that was...interesting... i would never have made that connection!

to steal a little idea there, though, that clip does raise an interesting point, which is that the earlier Rocky films were more about Rocky's relationships than anything else - they had a lot to do with Adrian and Apollo - which makes me wonder how this new film will work, since both characters are not supposedly dead... looking at IMDB, i see that his son is still part of the story, and Paulie, but i just can't imagine it'll feel the same without at least Adrian, you know? then again, they did a good job handling things after Apollo died, i think, so maybe i'll be pleasantly surprised!

i hope so...

i'm very much trying to keep an open mind about this film...

God...if he yells that, I'll just bawl like a girl.:(

Personally, I feel about Rocky 6 the same way I feel about an upcoming Indy 4; namely, a comeback vehicle for an aging actor whose best days are behind him. I mean, Stallone is already 60, and he's playing Rocky again? He hasn't had a hit in years, so he is digging up his old franchise which should be kept in the Hollywood museum, not back at the multiplex. I know that the trailer got people curious about it, but I'm just not that excited about seeing a 60-year-old Rocky back at his 6th installment.

Rocky films are usually about the fighting spirit in boxing. I don't know why an elderly Indiana Jones keeps running around the world. When Charles Bronson kept going, his characters were driven by the desire to seek final justice.

There's one big difference. Rocky got made and looks very promising. Indy is still up in the air and time is it's worse enemy. Check out the Rocky trailer. The age issue is handled well.

Saw the Rocky trailer last night and this movie looks completely ridiculous. He comes back in the ring because his character in a video game could beat the current champion? Also, the training is going to be toughen Rocky up so he could take a beating, what were the writers trying to come up with an idea and remembered Homer Simpsons boxing training/career? Also, in Rocky 5 didn't the doctor say one more fight will kill him and he's going back in the ring as someone looking to take punches?!?! I like Rocky 1-4, but this looks like a train wreck just as bad and most likely worse than Rocky 5. If they wanted to dust the franchise off, have Rocky train his son, don't put Rocky back in the ring.

Umm, I'm sure it runs much more deeper than a video game. And also in Rocky 5 he took a ****load of punches from Tommy Gunn. Did that kill him?

I guess you weren't paying attention to the movies, the script reviews, or the teaser at all. Damn ADD generation.

Wait, Let me get this straight.

You think the plot is ridiculous because it centers around a T.V. report about the results of a video game that brings Rocky out of retirement, but you're a fan of Rocky 4 who's plot centers about a T.V. report where the Russian amateur champs wants to fight Balboa in an exhibition, that brings Apollo out of retirement. When Apolla gets killed in the ring, Rocky dumps the belt so he can fight the Russian.

Also on top of that, Rocky's training consists of toughing Rocky up so he could take a beat from the Russian.

This is just Rocky IV all over again instead this time its Adrian who is dead instead of Apollo. And guess who is training Rocky? Yep Duke who trained him in IV.

So what are you bit**** about? This should be right up your alley with you in the front row!
