Considering each team member is different in their own right, with their unique powers and personality, in your opinion, what makes each team member qualified to be on a team where they have to react without thinking about the consequences of their actions?

My first thought, is the candidate would have to have a volitale phsychological profile, in addition to excellent hand to hand combat skills, and quick thinking... Not all of Rogue's subordinates have these traits. So it makes you wonder why she chose them.

Just because Rogue acted without thinking so Cyke offered the leadership role on his rapid response tem; doesnt mean that the purpose of the team is to blunder into any situation and start firing wildly - yeah; that'd be good for mutant/human relations...

The point of the team is to react to any situation without any other responsibilities - no students to spend time mentoring, no classes to teach and find cover for, no government meetings or conference calls with the O*N*E to attend. They live at the mansion, they train themselves at the mansion - but when something happens, they jump in the jet and go to it. That - is the rapid response Carey means.

In that case I'd put Wolverine in there. Maybe Gambit too.

I can see how this team doesnt have many ties to the students.

Not many of the X-Men have an education that gives them anything intellectually useful to teach the students. Bobby is one of the few who do (chartered accountant - not that its been even mentioned since the 70's), yet he has always been on the team that has the least to do with the students. It'd be nice if they at least had Bobby in charge of the finances at the institute. Doesnt make for better stories - I just like the idea of making things even more real worldish by having the members of the x-men have actual roles at the institute. Good job there's only about 30 kids left, cos there is no way they had enough people who can teach anything for the 200 or whatever it was that were there during Morrison's run.

Wolverine's on enough teams and isn't Gambit in post-Apocalyptic limbo?

I love the new lineup of the team, not because my favorite Marvel character is leading it, but because some drama is bound to explode!
Plus I have a huge feeling Rogue isn't going to be staying with these powers forever.:woot:

I think it hasn't been explained yet. He just kinda stumbled into the mansion during a big fight and ended up helping. Not sure why he'll be sticking around yet.

i havn't been following this title....Proll cuz Gambit is no longer around :(

And thats a bad thing? It seemed like all he did the past couple of years was sulk.:xmen:

I KNOW!!! BUT THAT ISN'T THE CHARACTERS FAULT IT'S THE WRITERS!!!

It's no reason to get rid of him because none of these hacks know how to write him :(.

and he only "sulked" in the past few issues of that stupid Apoc arc. Other than that i thought he was great in X-Treme but i that's my opinion obviously not yours.

I share your passion for a vendetta against bad character writting. I've been saying that for years about Iceman... All we can do is hope for a brighter future for these characters. :whatever:

Iceman was written well in...1997...uhh, I guess it has been a while. But I think he's being written well now.

Long as he tows the line between funny man in any situation, and powerful long timer. We dont need him making inappropriate remarks at the wrong times and just blasting ice forward as his only offense (or even worse, making a big ice wall like he does at the moment in the civil war special - talk about boring and ineffective)

Question: Why is Cable on this team?
he's not on the team, at least not yet. There's no word on if he will even be sticking around. I read that this book will have a rotating cast. I think Rogue, Cannonball and Iceman will be the core members with the rest coming and going as story sees fit

I agree. Iceman is being written better now compared to the recent past. I hope this trend continues.:xmen:

Oh, okay. That's good because I had a wtf moment when I read and saw that Sabretooth and Cable were on this team. I wasn't so surprised about Mystique because the X-Men did vote her in a few months ago.
