Goodman staying
John Goodman, who plays hubby Dan Conner on ABC's "Roseanne," returned to work yesterday following a one-day walkout. It appears he's back for the duration of the season.
His absence followed a reported on-set blowup by Roseanne, which led to speculation that Goodman was fed up with the mercurial star's endless outbursts.
Asked whether Goodman would ride out the season, his spokesman said, "that would be my understanding."
The spokesman declined to comment further. But according to a source familiar with the situation, Goodman definitely had thoughts of leaving for good, going so far as to empty his trailer on Wednesday. Then the negotiations really got rolling. At first, Goodman was willing to return to finish the episode that was in production. Then he agreed to do a final episode to handle his exit. By day's end, he was back for good.
Despite being under contract for another year, both Goodman and Roseanne have indicated this season will be the show's last.
