Ross Hughes Colors Thread

Sweet! Thanks!

A couple pages of a book called Partners In Crime Fighting. They'll be going through some changes, but here is the prelim version.

C&C's always welcome.

Very nice! The pallette may be a bit on the warm side, but I like that you warmed it up so much. No harsh clashing colors to distract from the reading. Though I feel that father Robot needs a shadow in the bottom right of the last panel.

Here is the follow up to the Big 12 Poker piece. A lot of the detail gets lost at the reduced size, especially the jersey mesh. Ah well. Yes, the A&M mascot is a male this time around, not the female it's supposed to be, but we'll file that under creative license. :) I also re-created the logo since I couldn't find one of a suitable size online that would blow up without looking too rough. Hence the font isn't exactly right.

C&C's more than welcome!!

That looks like a great cartoon in the making.

These are incredible. Sgt. Rock and the one with Mysterio are incredible.
Good work.

Just a quick warm up this morning to get started. Tried a version with a spotlight background, but I don't think it works as effectively as the white.

Tip of the iceberg, my friend....

I was asked to make some changes to these pages. I figure I'll post the rest of them while I'm at it. :)

The book is called Partners In Crime Fighting.

I had this piece commissioned for my wife for her birthday/Valentine's day LAST year and have just now gotten around to coloring it for her. Sorry, honey!!!

Comments and crits are always welcome.

Colors by me.

Did colors for this and a couple other pieces to repay the favor Harold did me on the Sweeney Todd commission.

C&C's always appreciated.

I made some adjustments to this based off of the feedback I've received. Sorry, couldn't/wouldn't shrink the pouches. :)

I darkened the building and painted a little bit of my sky over the bat-signal to help it blend in a little more. Darkened the bat-line near Batman's hands. Adjusted the color of the bulbs and their glow (but I still tried to keep them from attracting too much attention). And I pumped a little bit more saturation in the colors. I felt they were a little muted.

I kept this under wraps (for 2 whole days) until I could give a printed copy to Jerry at Comicpalooza. A few months ago at Comiccon, my wife and I bought the original and a colored print of this from Jerry and talked with him a bit. I decided to scan the original and do colors for it too.

Colored these for a couple different covers for books that are coming out at C2E2. I'll also be using these for some prints.

C&C's are more than welcome.
