The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Rotten Tomatoes - Predictions?

75% would be good for this. Don't count on anything in the 80's, certainly not the 90's. Anyone expecting more will most likely be disappointed. Things to consider:
.
- It's the same studio and team behind the first film, so really how much confidence can we really have? It may be great, but that would be surprising (although a great surprise). I'm rooting for this big time but unfortunately I can't shake that uneasy feeling that this will be another disappointment from Webb and co.

- Critics have an impression formed about this new series (first impressions matter) and will have the nitpick knives out for sure. Momentum is a factor with how a lot of these critics are in terms of following the heard. This thing has an uphill battle.

- Comic book fatigue is starting to settle in with critics, so TASM 2 probably won't be alone in it's critical fate. Frankly I'd be surprised if any comic film outside of AoU and Ant-Man hits the mid-eighties over the next couple of years.

Keep in mind we have a new writing team, and Sony also gave us SM1 and SM2, some of the greatest comic book films of all time. We can have confidence. Also, I really like TASM1, so…

I do think 75% could be a decent RT score from critics, but I think that the GA will be much kinder with its reviews. I can expect the mid 80s from audience ratings.

Don't wish for Robocop to do well... That trailer was a piece of ****..... It doesn't deserve to live.... It has the worst music I have heard for a trailer yet... It sucks and it should go die, simple as that.
Relax. The movie looks meh to me, but you're acting as if you have some kind of a personal vendetta against it.

To me this movie has to at least be in the 80% mark.

True, but like I said, critics will remember the last two outings more, there is no momentum with this series. That breeds cynicism with critics about the films because it appears the studio is more interested in a money grab then making something of high quality. Great for shareholders, not for fans or critics.

Again, don't count on anything above 75%. I truly believe that would be the best case scenario. It won't jump 15-20 percent in the rankings, just won't happen with critics.

Critics will probably hate, but oh well. The RT score isn't the almighty determining factor of whether or not a movie will be good or not. I think 75% is probably what we will get.

Have you heard that music? God awful..... And that Robocop Reboot sounds like garbage, too.

That Wolverine going back to the past sounds like garbage.

No seriously guys, did you see how AWFUL that Robocop trailer was? I bet no one is talking about it because they know it sucks.

Roboco: MMMMMMMMMM!!!! LISTEN TO OUR CRAPPY FUSION OF HOP AND DUBSTEP!!!! WATCH OUR POINTLESS HUMAN REPRESENTATION OF FAMILY AND HOW ROBOCOP LOOKS LIKE A GUY IN A SUIT, RATHER THAN ACTUALLY LOOKING LIKE A ROBOT!!!!

It just looks bad as a movie overall. It's even worse than the X men trailer!

Trust me, he's pretty much like this with everything not related to the The Amazing Spider-Man.

I don't mind people sharing their negative opinions on message boards, but he really goes overboard with the hate and negativity a lot of the time, and sometimes it doesn't even make any sense. :funny:

He even mentions or brings up something not even related to the topic at hand for no apparent reason other than to let off steam. (See above posts.)

Hey, I resent that :P That Robocop trailer was really crap.

Edit: I said carp instead of crap. lol.

I think we all do, otherwise what's the point? They may as well stop.

Something can be good without becoming your favorite. So there's still a good reason to keep making them...

Spider-man hasn't had a new arc in the comics in a long while that managed to become my new favorite. But I still enjoy reading them (when they're good).

It didn't help that there's this Doc Oc brain memory thing.... Weirdest part of the comic.

Yes I know. My point is the bar has to be continually raised on these productions. If not then it's just like going backwards. Whether they succeed is another story, but the attempt has to be made.

I never read read Superior (Stopped after mefist thing), just watched the Reviews and it lools like they lost their minds about Spiderman ,i mean kill Peter again?real?

Sales and reviews have been as good as they've been in years...real?

Oh, there is a comic section, quit derailing the thread with yer babbling..

I'm telling you superior spider-man is actually really good. But I can see how it's not for everybody.

I'm not going further with this but with your logic Cod Ghosts is one of the best games out there? (Sales above 15 millions and %74 score)

Does it, though? As long as projects are approached passionately and with effort, I don't think anything needs to be raised. If there are certain things a creative team, director, etc. thinks they could have done better and they try to not make those mistakes with a later installment, that's one thing. But "raising the bar" in terms of spectacle or scope? Not entirely necessary.

Actually i'm getting excited about the new Spiderman might go back reading it, this will be Spiderman year.

Just because something isn't better than a previous installment doesn't mean that its not good. Spider-Man 2 is currently my favorite SM movie, but that doesn't mean I will dislike TASM2 if it isn't as good or better. As long as its a good movie in its own right, that's all that counts.

Of course you want a movie to raise the bar again eventually, but not every film is going to do that.

Well I could certainly live with a studio thinking like this.

In terms of Spider-Man, I don't think they've even come close to making a definitive Spider-Man film. Not in effects (which are constantly evolving), performance, writing, or characterization. My hope is that this film is the start of something bigger. Not bigger in terms of plans moving forward, but in terms of artistic breadth.
