The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Rotten Tomatoes - Predictions?

if i am letdown / hate the movie, which i don't think will happen.. i shall be as gentle as possible and try not to get people riled up like RIM did, lol.

Yup! I clearly remember when RIM came on board, calling TASM the new Green Lantern! Which wasn't just evil. It was downright so, so not true!... I really, truly think (and that's two years later now) that amazing spidey is a better film than the original. The film wasn't amazing. But it was good, and the movie layed a solid foundation for a new fresh franchise, which I strongly believe will end up being a much better and more badass franchise than that of the first. And it's no doubt heading for places that the Raimi franchise never even tapped the surface of.

I'm with you, man, every single word.

April 17th, 12:01 am, i shall be there. Not sure if i will see it in 3d or not. I may have to if they don't do 2d screenings.

Australia is ahead of majority of places in terms of timezone, so it will be early morning on the 16th where you are.

I'd give anything to score preview passes for April 15th, though.

i´ll be seeing it one day later, after school ends! i can´t wait

Well said. I agree with everything here.

TASM1 could have been better, but I really enjoyed it. I'd call the movie a pleasant surprise because I had low expectations. Calling it "Green Lantern" really is incredibly harsh, as I wouldn't even say that about Spider-Man 3.

Nope. I wouldn't either call SM3 a green lantern. Spidey 3 was just simply not a good movie, that's all. A shame.

Why isn't there a poll for this thread?

Spider-Man 3 was more of a disappointment than anything else. A good movie? No, not really. But I really don't think it should be compared to B&R or Green Lantern. I would place it next to X-Men: The Last Stand if anything… the weakest of its trilogy, but still has its redeeming qualities.

Spider-Man 3 was an entertaining popcorn film. Just my opinion, but that's all. :)

I think there was an older thread with a poll about the RT score.

I agree, Picard. I don't particularly LIKE Spider-man 3. But it's not as bad as certain other superhero movies. I pop it in every once in a while because it's still entertaining in that dumb 80s action movie sort of way. And black suit Peter is ALWAYS good for a laugh if you're having a bad day. lol

I think what irks me most about SM3 is that it really had the potential to be one of the top CBMs of all time, up there with TDK and the Avengers. The potential was there, and it was seriously wasted. Even if it wasn't as good as SM1 or SM2, no one expected it to turn out the way it did.

But its in the past now, and since I'm over all that disappointment, I can watch it as pure entertainment and actually enjoy it.

Evil? Ha. That dude did us the biggest favor he could have, which was being honest. Frankly, I don't know who benefits by sugarcoating honest opinions, however critical they may be. I remember how on the boxoffice.com forums this complete clown went into full denial and started accusing RIM of being biased and lying (because he worked for Marvel Studios, apparently)... God, that's as low as internet fandom gets. If someone thinks a movie is bad, the coolest thing they can do is be honest about it. I know that when I watched TASM for the 1st time, I was thinking "Ah, I can tell why people think it's flawed". I was ready for the flaws, in a way, and that makes the acceptance of them much smoother, and less detrimental for the overall appreciation of a film.

There is bad, and then there is Green Lantern bad. I'll admit the rumors spread on box-office.com are really childish, but I think RIM really exaggerated his negative opinion of the movie by referring to it as Green Lantern.

I myself don't think GL was OFFENSIVELY bad. It was bad because it was lame and bland and limp, and it had close to zero going for it. I don't think TASM was remotely as barren as GL, but I can see where RIM was coming from by making the comparison. And hey, I don't mean to make all the boxoffice.com posters look bad, most of them are pretty smart. But their TASM thread from 2012... God, that was a laugh riot. Total circus.

I thought Green Lantern was an abomination. In my opinion very close to being the worst comic book film ever made as I don't think it has any redeeming qualities.

If RIM compared it to Spider-Man 3, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins, or something like that, maybe I could see where he is coming from, but… Green Lantern? Ugh.

what's more important is to back up seemingly inflammatory reactions with reasons.

i wasn't on the hype back then, but iirc he kind of just said it was "green lantern bad" and left without elaborating as to why he felt that way

if you are lucky enough to see the movie early, you kind of have a duty to your fellow board members to justify your stance, especially if it is controversial.

He said it felt like someone took his favorite Spider-Man toy and broke it. Not really enough of a justification of such a controversial opinion.

Then I questioned his credibility and got an infraction for it because I didn't see a prior post telling people not to do that. I think if someone, even if he/she has a good reputation, shows up and gives an early opinion on a film we spend so much time waiting for, and gives NO explanation and disappears… I have a right to question him/her. :(

at least u guys know that if i rage about tasm2 it will probably be almost entirely due to spider-man being underwhelming in fight scenes, something that virtually no one else agrees with me on in tasm1 :funny:

I thought most people here agree that the fights weren't as good as they could have been in TASM1?

No I agree with you, spidey was a little weak in TASM.

I thought Spidey was fine in TASM1, but the fight scenes could have been a little bit more intense, that's all.

cool beans.

if i had to predict RT score now, i would say low 80s, which is really good imo.

tasm1 is 72%, so an increase of 10% should be achievable.

although, i think superhero fatigue may be setting in a bit for critics, so maybe high 70s?
