TLJ has consistently had the weakest hold of any movie in the top 10. In its 2nd weekend it dropped 68% (next worst was Ferdinand at -46%). 3rd w/e TLJ dropped 27% (PP3 was next at -16% but most of the top 10 was in the PLUS 40% range). 4th w/e TLJ dropped another 55% of its audience (PP3 was runner up again at -39%). TLJ finally caught a break in weekend #5 when Insidious: tLK dropped 58% but Jedi still lost another 50% of it's audience. If Deadline Hollywood's estimates are correct TLJ will drop another 45% this weekend and will finally have 2 films to look down on as worse performing holders.
For a film to start so strong and drop off a cliff like that is puzzling. It's pretty clear that once audiences actually saw TLJ they box office fell off quickly. That in turn suggests that the audiences didn't like the film much and the box office reflected that once Word of Mouth had time to spread.
