Star Trek: The Final Frontier ~ Season I OOC Thread

Just wanted to say sorry for my lack of posting, I've been going through a bit of writer's block, but I should be posting a lot more now.

How about Vaughn pay engineering a visit? Get you back into the game.

Once everyone is done interacting or what not, let me know and I'll move us along to the starbase, or what's left of it.

Also, I would not mind an interaction with the XO, if there's time for it.

I haven't RPed in a while but the new film reinvigorated my Star Trek interest so I can't resist giving this a shot! I looked through the playing thread and saw the mission. I was wondering if I could apply as Tuvok - he's had loads of experience with the Romulans and could be sent to rendezvous with the Enterprise to act as an advisor. Would everyone be okay with that, or shall I chosoe a different character?

The crew of the Enterprise has mysteriously disappeared....
Can Chief Tarkon find out what's going on and save the day?
Stay tuned!

:awesome:

Can we play second characters yet? I wouldn't mind being the helmsman character I originally created.

Maybe people should post as their first character occasionally.

I guess all the redshirts had pickled livers.

Is Vaughn gonna have to choke some *****es?

I'm a doctor, not a punching bag.

I'll see if I can post sometime tomorrow.

I'm waiting for others to post. Like our Captain.

Must be havin' communicator problems again.

I've been reading the New Frontier books, and it's got my Trek juices flowing.

So, I've been thinking up ways to get this moving again despite our Captain being on extended shore leave on some godforsaken pleasure planet.

So, I think I've worked out how to keep moving along with this mission in such a way that, if JB comes back, and this isn't the direction he wanted to go, we can always come back and do it his way.

I also had an idea to make this game a little more unique than other games on the Hype. And it fits in nicely with the Star Trek format. If you're all interested in trying it, we can have missions run by a sort of DM. Each mission would be like an episode with a beginning-middle-end. The DM would keep the mission secret, letting the players play without knowing what's coming. And the DM would send pm's to players with game notes like "If they ask for a sensor scan, this is what you'll find," or "When you beam down, this is going to happen."

This would provide some structure that may make things interesting since our characters will have to react to things we're not expecting. But, it also provides the freedom to play it out however we decide if the DM goes missing, or only wants to give us very general notes on an arc. And, the DM can be anyone of us. After a mission is over, we'd just decide who wants to be the next DM? And if no one has any ideas, or no one wants to do it, or we just need a break from missions, we could always just use the time between missions as down time for the crew (like at a starbase) and character development.

If it can breath some life back into this RPG, I'm all for it

Yes please. I had suggested something similar before.

Also, why are their no shotguns in Star Trek? Half the fights take place in tight corridors.
One of the reasons Star Trek Elite Force surprised me with stuff like grenade launchers and miniguns but they made sense in context.

Because you can make a shotgun out of a laser weapon?

Also, engineers get angry when you detonate photon torpedoes inside the ship. :awesome:

A shotgun could be plasma based. Instead of a steady stream, it would be launched in bursts and the muzzle would have say 5 exit points at subtle angles giving it a spread

But I don't think Star Trek ever went that way in terms of tech. It's all LAZORS!
