I think most fanboys feel that a semi-unknown or B-lister with a good resume doesn't take them out of the movie like someone who has been in a lot of flicks over here. For instance, someone like Jason Statham or Mark Wahlberg....I know them too ****ing well and unless they changed their look and vocal pattern would be thinking, "that's Statham or Wahlberg playing such and such." Reynolds is known, but not so known that he should take you out of the flick. I've seen him change his **** up enough in movies to not be bugged by it.

Agreed. I was looking at some of his past work before finding one of his films called "Hunger" and he had a bit of an "Ollie" look to him.

Fassbender would have made a decent Green Arrow, but I think considering they went with Ryan as GL I see them going for a peer of Reynolds with a similar style, like Bradley Cooper or someone similar.

Well yea ryan could have been a compromise on the lead, a studio actor who has solid fan base and appeal and has qualities that campbell liked and can work with.

I'm pretty sure Campbell wanted that Roberts dude or some other unknown, the studio wanted Cooper or Timberlake and they settled on a more sure bet in Reynolds. But that's all just speculation on my part. Reynolds just seems safe to me. But I like it. Safe is good for a GL movie. They can always go outside the box in sequels with villains, etc.

When it came down to Reynolds, Cooper, and Timberlake I thought they said one was a studio choice, a producer choice, and a director choice.

I would have said the studio choice was Timberlake cuase I see no reason why the producer or director would want him. Reynolds being the producer choice since he is ALMOST bankable and very capable, and Cooper was director choice since he was very capable, had at least flash-in-the-pan bankability as The Hangover's Bradley Cooper plus being a fresher choice. But thats just my take.
