oh yea i remember checking out the website all the time when it was spidermanhype, i didnt officially start posting to 06 myself, was a lurker for awhile to i finally decided to join up. But yea i said it before with campbell on board i am sure he is going to find the right balance between action, drama, and comedy and pull good performances from all the cast.

Expect for Reynolds to play Reynolds. Hal Jordan won't be present in the film.

i guess people have already made up their mind on Ryan. I can fight on and on, but it won't do much good will it?

well we all will have to wait to see we first bit of footage of ryan as hal to see how things are going to be.

Even if Reynolds did play Reynolds I'd be satasfied because I like Reynolds.

But there is no proof that he is, so that is a silly comment.

The reason I like Reynolds is because I watched The Nines, he was fantastic in that flick. He even made The Amityville Horror tolerable.

Meh, I'm not bothered. The criticisms of Ryan Reynolds are mild compared to the sheer BILE some people poured on the head of Heath Ledger. I lost count of the number of "Brokebat Mountain" jokes and homophobic comments/manips we had to deal with. Then all it took was a good trailer for all the haters to do a 180 and start fawning all over him.

Fanboys are fickle creatures. If you just wait out the hating now, I'm sure it'll be giving way to "Ryan Reynolds IS Green Lantern" sigs around a year from now.

Too true. And haven't they learned by now? That whenever that hate a casting decision they end up loving it? They just need to be opened minded. And that's alot to ask for from a fanboy. It's because the casting decision isn't what THEY wanted and so they can't even imagine who he would do in the first place.

I was watching The Nines. It's very odd but Reynolds is great in it. His first character remindsm me of Hal.

Fanboys' DNA generally consists of 50% ignorance, 40% closed mindedness and 10% KFC, Burger King or Macdonalds.

You cant fight against nature - they'll hate who they want to hate.

Yep, always the same formula.

Nice to know you can see the future.

I am just bitter....I wanted Nathan Fillion....:yay:

And I wanted a new skateboard since mine is damaged goods. Ahh, how life can be unfair. :yay:
Indeed I did not say he would do bad just that he would do Reynolds...
And what happens when/if he does well as Hal/GL? You know, just like how everyone couldn't believe Ledger was cast as Joker, yet he delivered greatly.

Then he did better than my expectations....
Which is why it's always better to wait and see first than always jump to the usual conclusion of how a said actor will do bad in whatever role he's cast in. :meanie:

I did not think that....

Well a lot more people didnt think like you. Heck aintitcool reposted the article about his initial casting just to show off all the comments on how people bashed the choice.

The sad thing is, it's still going on. I talked to one individual on another site who refused to see The Dark Knight, and left the room whenever a trailer began to show, out of disgust for Heath Ledger's casting. He's yet to see any footage, and says he refuses to ever watch any, yet does not hesitate to make judgement on the film by talking about how Ledger's performance in the film was "s***ty".

Of course, it wouldn't have mattered WHO they cast as The Joker to this guy. He'd already engaged on a similar personal boycott of Batman Begins and all subsequent films in the franchise due to the design of the Batmobile. Yet he says comments like, "Given that we all know the new Batman franchise has been an utter failure on every level..."

those people are rare. Those are the purists who accept anything, who refuses to have an open mind, and made up their mind a looong time ago.

The thing is that the dude that you're about, has no weight in his argument when he said "Given that WE ALL know that the new Batman franchise...has been an utter failure". Where he got this info from, I don't' know; he's making crap up on the spot.

It's one thing to dislike something, but don't pretend that everyone is in agreement with you. It's like if someone is hating on the new Star Trek but accepting that it was a hit and it was still a relevant movie then that's cool with me. But to live in La-La land and boycotting something that you haven't seen..well that's just super nerdy.

That was the frustrating argument I and others were having with the guy. I was trying to say, "Look, if you don't want to watch the films, fine, no one's forcing you. I think it's a shame you're not even giving them a chance, but that's your choice. My problem isn't that, it's that, even though you choose not to watch the films, you act like you're the definitive authority on them. How can you say the film is crap, or the performances were terrible (and both films had "a cast full of nobodies", apparently), if you haven't seen them for yourself?"

But it was like going around in circles. He just kept on confusing the issue, saying that we couldn't make him watch the movies if he didn't want to. And he kept on returning to the analogy, "If it looks like s**t, and it smells like s**t, I don't have to stick my foot in it to make sure it's s**t." I suggested a more appropriate analogy would be that he's locked himself up in his house and refuses to go outside, because there might be s**t on the sidewalk. But, as he was prone to do to anyone who made a point he couldn't argue with, he just replied with "WRONG! FAIL! EPIC FAIL!"

A charming fellow, I think you'll agree.

maybe you guys should bring the guy over and have the movie in dvd/bluray player and say we are going to watch....... and then make him see the film. For me i at least will give a film a chance and if during the course of watching it becomes crap then i think its crap and probably wont even watch it again.

but people like that are rare (and nerdy hermits) and it's not worth anyone's time to convince him otherwise.
