so how does everyone want ryan to play hal in the movie?

Basically sure of himself, a little sarcastic at times, but knows when to get serious when it's time to be.

Totally cant wait to see some footage of ryan as hal. I said it before i am not worried about him at all, and i am sure campbell will pull a good performance out of him. Plus ryan working off who ever is cast for the rest of the leads/supporting players.

I want to see Ryan play Hal exactly how he played the FBI Commander in Smoking Aces.


Using his lower voice, playing it serious and straight.


I don't care to see the regular smartass witty Ryan from his usual comedic work. Save that for how they write Flash.

I'm not a big fan of Ryan Reynolds, he basically plays the same guy over and over again. I wish they had been a little more daring and gone outside the box with the casting, like Martin Cambell did, with Daniel Craig as James Bond

Not really. Reynolds is a pretty good dramatic actor. Watch films like The Nines, Chaos Theory, Fireflies in the Garden. And even in Smoking Aces he played the straight guy.

To be fair he does play the same sorta character in his mainstream films like the comedies.

It's the indie films that barely anyone sees where he demonstrates his real acting ability.

Why is he allowed to have a "No,no,no,no,no,no!" panic yelling reaction and Shia LaBeouf gets **** about it. Not saying that Shia's usually crap acting should be acceptable but neither should Reynolds.

I still have hope Green Lantern can be good but I'm once again reminded he really is a hit and miss actor.

i am sure like i said many times before ryan will probably be fine as hal. Campbell is a great director and knows how to work with his actors so all will probably pull good performances.

Have faith in Campbell. When in doubt, he's the man to trust the most I think. But I trust Reynolds and everyone else. And I'm starting to be more convinced that Lively can pull it off. But not completely.

what the heck? I would say 'no no no' too if the guy on the other line is gonna make a threat and then hangup.

Shia isn't even that bad; he's just over exposed but he's not untalented.

I like craig and his Robocop avatar but his posts are confusing to me sometimes. I mean, what does Shia have to do with Ryan? I just don't see why he was even brought up.

Not really. Being a smartass doesn't mean it's the same character. Van Wilder and Monty from Waiting for example... Both of them a smartass. But, Monty is a crude and at times an *******. Van Wilder is not. He's smart, charming and loveable.
The only time I can see that there's been two characters being the "same" it's Van Wilder and Berg from Two Guys and a Girl.

the bottom line is that Ryan is on fire when he's the snarky type. Most comedians/comedic actors are like that, from Bill Murray to Chevy Chase; they go with what works for them.

that is why i cant wait for deadpool mixing his perfect genre of action/comedy and throw on top of that a character and source material he loved
