I'm not looking for it to get cancelled. I think it can still serve it's intended purpose of maintaining a teenage Peter free of a lot of the baggage affecting the 616 Peter.

My comment was about something else. A couple of years back Wizard asked Quesada about the two Marvel universes. They wondered if:

1) Marvel would keep two separate universe
2) Have the universes merge?
3) Eventually faze out one of the other.

I recall Quesada saying that if both universes sold well, Marvel should keep two lines. However, he also seemed to hint that he thought the ultimate verse would prove more popular and sale more books in the long run, thus leading to the end of 616 (at least that's how I interpreted it) and the establishment of the ultiverse as mainstream continuity.

Based on the sales of the ultimate line, it appears that that Spidey, X-Men, and FF have already peaked in popularity. Even the Ultimates has seen a drop off in sales. Barring a major shake up in creative personnel on each book, it doesn't look like the ultimate line will ever be any bigger than it is now.

I agree with the popularity of the Ultmate line. It will always have it's regular fanbase but I don't forsee it ever getting huge. I do hope they will keep coming out with the books though. It's a break from all the 616 stuff going on.

That's one of those sales list where there's good news for everybody. Marvel must be extremely pleased at what Civil War is doing, and DC's 52 is making money hand over fist every week.

It also shows that fans are more than willing to buy a CHEAPER book every week.

Lol, how much do you want to bet that Joe Q is looking at DC's success with 52 pulling in big numbers four times a month, and is ALREADY planning a weekly Marvel "Event" for next year?

Anyway; am i mistaken, or are sales up all around? I dont recall all of the top ten books passing 100,000 units in a long while....In fact, May 2006 has 13 books all up past 100,000, with #14 just slightly under.

Not bad.

Excuse me, did I see wrong or is Spider-Girl at #125? A good many, many, MANY places above Incredible Hulk which didn't even break 5 figures? And yet THAT'S the book bein' cancelled.

Those numbers are probably re-order numbers...

Because we both know that Moon Knight sold more than 5300 copies, as well as ASM 529 & 530, which show figures between 3 to 4 thousand.

aren't these books "Spidergirl" beat in their second month of being on the shelves?

Those are just reprints and reorders, like second printing of FF 536 (Aka what is blatantly on the cover actually doesn't happen. Ever.). I believe this is the second (Maybe third, not too sure about 96) month that Spider Girl has actually gone up sales wise

I think those are re-orders...Hulk actually sold 46, 600 copies in May...nearly 30,000 more units than Spider-Girl.

536: thor hammer held by doom right?? the thor hammer figured in the stroy tho right?

i bought "a death in the family" and thats just the same. the woman that dies isnt 616 invisible woman -- its bloody pathetic! and their best story was the reprint of when franklin aged himself and absorbed all the other teams minds...

i even liked the adventures of franklin comedy/kids story more..

Right... but considering that the covers selling point was that Doom was worthy enough to lift the hammer (Something very, very few people can do) it was bull**** when it didn't happen. Even more so thanks to the following issues cover which showed him laying the smackdown on the F4 with it :o

so he cudnt pick it up?? urgh i hate FF covers and storylines now. is there book in decline? is that why they go for cheap stunts?

It was a COVER. Covers are designed to get you to BUY the issue. How many covers has there been in th' past of Spidey bein' killed? Were you disappointed when he didn't die in those?

Seriously, give it a rest. Covers aren't meant to be 100% literal.

Remember when covers actually had word balloons and the cover itself was somewhat representative of the contents of the issue in question?

:(

yeah but when the titles "a death in the family" and they trick you by havin a slightly changed timeline story, thats not good. and yeah covers used to be representative, just read the previous post to this.

Dr. Doom is NOT a giant in this issue. Guess that's bull**** too, huh?

Okay, a Death in the Family WAS a cheap stunt, but c'mon...did anyone REALLY think they'd kill off an FF member? I mean really? NOBODY ever has th' stones fer that. And technically they DID die so th' solicits weren't misleading. It's all about common sense.

they kept saying "this is real. lasting effects. u wont believe it." REDICULOUS. and the cover u used is clearly representative, cmon..

Just provin' a point. Covers ain't meant to be literal. Sometimes they are, sure, but majority, nope.

ok, here's a great cover

a concept cover that harks back to the good ol' days. no false promises, no false expectations. no disappointments, only a cover that adds to the greatness of the comic (sorry to rant off ona tangent)

Whoa what is going on in Ultimate FF that it sold that well?

The return of Doom and the FF Zombies are what's going on in UFF right now, I think.

Can anyone sum up what happened in A Death in the Family? I remember hearing how one of the FF would die and stuff, but I guess it never happened?
