Really strong holds for Woman King and Barbarian. And great debut numbers for Don't Worry Darling if that holds true - Looks like the controversy may have helped, rather than hurt it. (Remember when the anti-woke goons were trying to say Avatar's re-release would win the weekend? :funny: )

Shame about 'See How They Run,' though...

Wow, that's crazy numbers for Smile! And to think they originally planned to dump it on streaming!

I wonder if Top Gun will ever drop out of the top ten, short of being literally pulled from theaters?

At this point, I’m betting BP2 makes more than Avatar 2.

I’ll wait for the full Avatar 2 trailer, but I’m actually feeling the opposite. In terms of box office, I think BP2 might be closer to Doctor Strange 2 while Avatar 2 will be closer to Top Gun.

If we're talking worldwide I'm going to go ahead and say that it won't even come close between Avatar and Black Panther.

Cameron has proved himself time and again in terms of box office and with the time it takes to develop them nowadays, his movies feel more of events and cinematic experiences than Marvel films do. The re-release of the first movie has proven that there's still much appetite for the franchise and, both on the internet, but even more so in the real world, there is huge hype for his next installment.

Until very recently I've barely seen anyone talking about Black Panther that isn't a hardcore fan and the fact that Boseman and T'Challa won't be around is going to be a drawback in profits. Obviously reviews and word to mouth are going to be critical in how well it performs, so we'll see, but with all the behind-the-scenes problems I kind of have a feeling it won't get the acclaim of the first film. Some of the other Phase 4 entries underperfoming are also not the greatest of signs.

That being said it will still make lots of money. But making as much as the first film and/or more than The Way of the Water is very unlikely at this point. Early projections even attest to that.
