I want to put this thread here as a place where those of us who dislike the Joker pic from I Believe in Harvey Dent Too can state our grievances without resorting to "IT SUCKS!" I really would prefer to avoid flaming in here, so if some idiot who does like the pic comes in and shouts "YOU GUYS ALL SUCK, THIS PIC IS AWESOME!" just ignore him. This is here so people can read the various reasons why this pic isn't what some of us expected.
Here's my reasoning:
The scarring - I know Nolan is going for realism, which is fine by me. However, I really would like him to stay true to the comics, and in no way is this image sticking to the source material. The essence of the Joker is a very dapper, stylish guy in a purple suit, who happens to be insane due to being dumped in toxic waste, and who has this unbearably large grin on his face.
He is NOT supposed to be some guy who's face looks like ten miles of Death Valley fire trails.
The point of the Joker is that if you saw him from a distance you might think he's just a happy guy with an interesting fashion sense. This is just going overboard on the realism.
Now, if this were the rough cut version, how the Joker looked just after his accident, and he does manage to clean it up a little, then fine. But if this is the finished product, is this what I have to watch for an hour and a half, some guy who's face looks like it got in a fight with a chainsaw and he smeared lipstick on it to cover it up? Then I'd rather not watch the movie.
