Oh don't get me wrong Vis, I know what exactly what you're saying. I found it strange upon reading it at first, but that was in the days when I began dropping 616. Not because of silly stuff like that, it happens all the time but once we had all this Totem stuff, Norman returning from the dead and knocking Gwen up and whatnot just to name a few, I just stopped caring all together. But of course, this is just opinion.

Well, considering that Sandman is rather hard to kill and that he has turned good many times in the comics, don't rule it out.

Oh, and Norman Osborn dying in the first film was a given.

Last time I checked, Alfred Molina said that he would like to return and it's been discussed about a possible return in the future. AND Arad and Raimi have both hinted it in various interviews.

So, they wrote him out of the series for now, so they didn't have to deal with the fact that he's still around. I don't know. But if I'm directing a superhero film franchise like this, I find it hard to just keep my villains floating around. Either they die, or they "die".
