Sandman van robbery question

It just doesn't make any sense to have a human being driving the armored van, conidering it's full of sand, people would suffocate. I'm with Dragon and SH12 (initially), Sandman's sand is driving the van...somehow I don't think Sammy thought about the brake pedal during writing/shooting ;)

They wouldn't suffocate if the sand only went up to their necks.

There could be (in comic reality) NO ONE at the wheel, and the van is just careening down the street under it's own momentum, and just bounces off stuff to kind of meander down the road. I think it's safe to say that when SM gets knocked out the back door, the van is still moving, because I think that is when the "door surfing" sequence takes place, with SM being dragged behind the van...
Another possiblility is that the fight in the cargo area takes place before Marko fills the cab with sand.
It also makes me wonder if the bank robbery scene is first, or if the money truck scene is first. I would think the truck scene is first, 'cause Spidey seems stunned when he punches through Marko's stomach, just before he gets knocked out of the back of the truck....

The weight of the sand could suffocate them, even if only came up to their necks. If you can't expand your chest, you can't breathe.

Well said, not_a_victim. I've said it before. People on the net think they can be impressive and intimidating just by "talking tough" (or their definition of it). Why they think that when it's so obvious that nobody's going to take them seriously in a forum is beyond me. And like you said, they end up being funny.

HopeOfTheFuture, welcome to the Hype. I hope the climate around here hasn't put you off. It's really a pleasant enough place most of the time and an intelligent forum (relatively). And since you're both a Terminator and Spidey fan, I can say only one more thing: good taste.
Thanks. I will see what the future holds in stock for me on this forum. I really don't understand what all the trouble is about, and why some people are reacting so strange in my point of view, but hey, that's probably me. I'm not here to have a fight, I'm here to talk. And if you want to talk about Terminator, drop me a line ;-)

Yeah, alot of people on this site hate it when people ask a question that they think is obvious. it especially iritates them if the person who asked the question is a n00b. It's pretty stupid really, just try to ignore them.

You say it very well:

But I think this topic proves the contrary and shows there's more behind such a little detail. Like now we have some different answers (points of views), and we even have already 3 pages of talk about this subject.

It actually brings up a good point...If the truck is careening down the street, either out of control, or semi-out of control, Spidey's first thought should be to get the truck stopped, so no one is hurt, then deal with the robbery.

A question about the Sandman van robbery. In the trailer, we see that Sandman and Spider-Man have a fight in a driving van. Who's driving this van?

The bank officers? Why would they keep on driving if someone is robbing them. Even if they don't realize it, the fight between Sandman and Spider-Man should notify them. There's a hole in the roof of the van, the backdoors are open. An alarm must inform them in the truck.

Or is the driver perhaps some henchman of Sandman? I actually believe that Sandman operates alone, now that he has those powers.

Anybody an idea??

I know he's driving the van

I know he's driving the van
I actually think you can see him (or at least his uniform, his tie and perhaps his head) in those screenshots of the van filled with sand.

Look at the right side of the van, you can see his uniform.

Look! I can see him picking his nose whilst gawking at a dirty magazine. Can anyone else confirm this?

Your honor, this set picture was taken the exact same day as the previous photo, that Mr. Hope brought in for evidence. I know people are expecting someone in there, but theres no one unless they're dead, basically driving the point back home that SAND was in fact, driving and responsible for the destruction of private and city property.... I rest my case.

Well, I don't think they would actually put an actor in a car full of sand, it would be too risky. They'd probabaly film a car full of sand, and then digitally place the actor in afterwards.

actually, if he sits in the sand it will still be okay as long as it's not up to his throat or anything.

Yeah, but those phtos look like the sand is pretty high.
Perhaps there's just a layer with sand to create an optical illusion, it could be that the rest of his lower body is actually free of movement (ofcourse not visible for the camera). Like some sheet with sand just montaged to the truck, with a hole for the driver's body to go through. Or it could be toys/decoys/ or plastic figures as stand-in...

Also it could be just the stunt driver, Althought now I do see the person in the car. The cab itself I don't think is really full of sand, I think its like a cut out for the driver to sit in.

Spidermanhero, it would still suffocate him anywhere, because the weight of the sand doesn't allow him to breathe.

yeah, possibly, I can see the person in both pictures clearly now.

Way too much thought is being put into this brief part of an action sequence. This is a comic-book movie guys, I don't really care about how they explain how the van is moving as long as they come up with something.

possibly but i think it's just a pile of sand the driver sticks his feet into and gets to drive. It will be regular sand, it's not like the driver is going to do by sitting in a pile of sand. i mean people have other people dig a sand hole and put his or her friend inside and then filling the hole back up with sand so that only the persons head is showing still that person isn't in danger, it's just that they can't move so i think the driver is in the same situation.

hmm, I never thought of that.
