Huh...

I have very little knowledge of the movie.

I just started visiting the spoiler site recently.

haha don't worry about it...good question.

I wish there was some interaction between the two but unfortunately that won't be the case.

I'd have loved it just to see Scarecrow gas Joker with the fear toxin, and see Joker just laugh it off like in the Knightfall storyline.

^As far as

One of the opening sequences with the chechens w/ fake batmen. batman attacks, presumably arrests scarecrow. I think there will also be one more fear toxin sequence. I don't know what plot role he plays, I'm sure it ties in with everything else. not exactly sure what the deal is with the chechens or the fake batmen and i personally dont want to until the movie comes out.

From the looks of it he's not very relevant to the story.

not true, at least in my opinion. Though Scarecrow is a minor villain in the comics, every once in a while a minor villain gets that arc that serves as their "15 issues of fame." then when the next story arc starts, they serve as a "carryover" in order to push the new arc along. at the end of Begins, Scarecrow was unfinished business. now, it's time to finish it

^ Indeed. It will be relevant, he's in a scene with
chechens and fake batmen
that are obviously relevant to the plot. so whether or not he has a big role, he isn't pointless but ties into the greater picture somehow.

I knew it...

The scene serves as more of an intro to the Batmen and the mob's desperation. And as mentioned above, it's a good segue into this movie from the end of Begins. Scarecrow is terribly irrelevant to the story and is in for less than five minutes. He's never mentioned again after this scene. He has a nice line though. One of the vigilantes tells Batman they're trying to help, Batman says he "doesn't need help."
Scarecrow: "Not my diagnosis."
He's still alive, at least. Hopefully they bring him back for a more substantial role, but I doubt they will.

I can't wait to catch a glimpse of Scarecrow again! I hope he gets used more in a later installment.

I would have liked to see more Scarecrow but when you consider how fast paced and broad the movie is already is, I don't know how worth it it have been to squeeze him in. This movie begins in completely new territory from Begins and gets on with it quite quickly.

I would love to see more Scarecrow but to be honest I'm just grateful he's in the movie at all. It would have been so easy not to mention the character again. Here's hoping he comes back for film 3 too.

I couldnt agree more. Even though his role is small at least they brought him back and it was great to see him again.

Holy crap guys. Any questions about scarecrow feel free to ask. I dont feel bad spoiling anything about him since his role is so short, but I have to say....okay imagine youre watching Heat again...but all of a sudden, in a really tense scene, a guy with a burlap sack shows up talking some real crazy talk. Thats what the scarecrow's albeit brief appearance feels like. Like a freak from some other world invaded THIS one. its a really surreal moment and if anyone wants to know more feel free to ask. By far one of the best scenes in the whole movie.

Does Cillian Murphy seem less reserved than he was in Begins? Basically, are the gloves off now? The Scarecrow has no veneer of sanity, he's completely bonkers?

^ You really don't see much of him to make an assessment of that. He's much dirtier in TDK. But, really it's not that much of a change. Only line of his I can remember is "that's not my diagnosis" which was his last one.

Scarecrow was such a waste of a character, its not even funny. It was pointless for him to be in this movie. And what was up with him sounding really weird in the mask?

IMO, he came off really strong. Although it was a short little cameo. I thought it was a great way to wrap up his status after BB and tie it into TDK through the Chechens.

As far as his sanity or reservation, he came across to me as utterly gone, and not in that cheesy way in BB on the horse or while tied down at Arkham. Although he had only about two lines (the first one went on for a good bit), they were really effective, from the first few lines I almost didn't recognize his voice. It began to slowly modify into his scarecrow voice toward the end of his speech whcih was a bit illogical but very effective (the logic can be explained perhaps by the junkie on the ground, in a sense we were hearing what the junkie heard). When he delivered the line it wasn't like a 'they scream and they cry', it was much more frantic, self-assured (since hes taken on the scarecrow persona) and you can tell he's getting great enjoyment out of watching his drugs screw up the town.

then when hes unmasked he has big bags under his eyes, maybe a little stubble i couldnt quite tell, and he's really sweaty and kinda nasty looking. To me he looked really really bugged out on his own stuff.

"thats not my diagnosis"

Great to see him in the movie, brilliant cameo and served well as Batmans introduction to the movie and a way to show the limitations of the begins suit.

Also, him gassing the fake batman was great.

that line cracked my ass up.

Wrong. Scarecrow was used perfectly.
Scarecrow was done how Sandman should have been done is Spiderman 3 - a small cameo to reintroduce the character and show what he does. Scarecrow's scenes serve to show that this time around Batman already exists, and he kicks everyone's ass. It also sets up to show exactly what Batman is to Bruce, leading into the "Batman has no limits," line.

Not really, in my opinion. His role was very brief, and he seemed really toned down, although clearly a bit "not all there".

I can see them using him greatly in the third, but really depending on the new face to the team. First movie was "This is Batman", second movie was "This is the new Gotham" what with the psychopaths in it and all. Next can be something having to do with the villains trying to take down Batman. You don't have the rogues gallery Nolan has opened up into his universe and not use them all.

The only thing I was disapointed about was he wasn't dressed in the cool straight jacket outfit like the action figure was. It was like he found his suit in a dumpster and said ah much more scarier now that its covered in filth, oh and now I can make my voice a little deeper cause I'm crazy.
