Iron Man 2 Scarlett Johansson is the Black Widow

the only person I require to have read the comics is the writer and director.

Even that is unrealistic, if you are talking about them already being a comics fan as opposed to reading for research.

reading for research is what I meant...if someone is a fan thats a plus but not required

But did they compromise the character to accommodate a less-than-talented actress who couldn't be arsed to do a non-American accent? Hell yeah, they did.

I can't see how you can make that assessment unless you were on set. Perhaps she did try her hand at the accent but if it didn't sound perfect maybe that's why they decided not to go with it. Some fans you can't please and you better bet that if they had stuck with the accent and it sounded terrible people would be harping on and on about that.

Damn if you do, Damned if you don't.

Mickey Rourke isn't Russian, but he sounded pretty believable.

Yes, but being born and raised in Russia is a part of Vanko's background that is discussed much in the film. Not the same for Natalie/BW.

I love when idiot fan boys completely live up to the stereotype.

I am sure Gwyneth is swimming in Iron Man comic books, right? Especially since she admitted she had no idea what the story was for the movie, she just went with it. :whatever: Mickey Rourke has a an entire room devoted to Whiplash comics, I hear.

Quoted for the M'F'n Truth!

If Black Widow did have an accent, then they'd complain about the casting, if it was another actress, then they'd complain about the curly hair, if her hair was straight, then they'd complain about that it wasn't red enough, and so forth.

It's pretty damn sad when people complain they're mainly complaining about women.

I guess they would've preferred Daniel Day Lewis to have played Black Widow.

The character WAS Russian. She just didn't have an accent. It's not that every Russian has to have the same Russian accent, especially, when they are trained to speak perfect English. I'm Austrian and doesn't sound like Schwarzenegger.

The only thing that bothered me, was when ScarJo spoke Latin with an American accent.

That really didn't bother me since no one knows what a real latin accent sounds like(since it's a dead language).

I get that feeling too. Which burns me more then the rest of the crap they complain about.

I wonder how her Latin would sound with a Russian accent?? :woot:

I loved Black Widow in the film. Since she wasnt that big in the movie, I was fine with them not going that indepth about her. If she is a main charecter in Avengers then they can always bring up her being from Russia, her codename (which wouldve been nice to hear in the film but its not that big of a deal), and why she doesnt use a Russian accent. But just by them saying her last name we know she has some kind of ties to being Russian.

They said her real first name once and her real last name 3 times. They can reveal the Black Widow code-name in the Avengers. Works fine for me.

Yea, only Tony was given a code name so its not a big deal, IMO.

ScarJo had absolutely NO business in IM2. It’s basically just a part to help expand her fanbase. Before landing the role she never knew anything in the marvel universe. Therefore she could care less about BW or IM. She only read “Archie Comics” when she was little for crying out loud.

Hey, Heath Ledger's sister's read Archie and never read any comics growing up. He then put down Arkham Asylum.

I guess he didn't deserve to play the Joker. :whatever:

I love how simple-minded moviegoers can accept whatever Hollywood produces. You know well enough that women are usually the WEAK link in comic book movies. So when idiot fan boys complain, the carefree individuals like yourself think it’s no big deal. :cmad:

so you believe that everyone cast in a comic book movie should be a fan and read everything on the character they are portraying

The only reason reason why he gave a great performance is because he was given better material to work with from Nolan.

I don’t think ScarJo has ever seen comic book movies when she was growing up especially Supes/Bats. Now she WANTS to associate herself in the comic book movies mainly to boost her career. Otherwise she would still be making independent films with Woody Allen.

ScarJo was never a comic book fan nor had good material to work with. That’s two strikes against her what else do you need to prove that she was a worthless character in IM2.

yeah how dare she inject herself in IM2....and against Marvel and Fav's will too

Well that's just your opinion. I happen to think it's completely full of ****, but whatever.

I bet you wouldn't know what to do with yourself if ScarJo went up to you and started talking to you.

Or any girl for that matter.

wow, you're extremely pathetic and probably very sheltered. It's ok, maybe one day you'll grow up.

Marvel and Favreau only cast her for eye candy nothing more nothing less. I think Favreau's favorite seen in IM2 was when ScarJo was changing her clothes in the back seat of the car. I wonder who wrote that particular scene. Maybe Favreau! who also created his own worthless character in the movie.

Can you do me a favor and please apply your 'logic' to Gwyneth and Mickey? (and about 75% of the other actors in comic book movies) Bc they are comic books fans. Thanks.

this isnt a personal attack but before you post again...say it out loud to yourself...see if it makes sense...practice it in the mirror...then ask yourself if that is something a reasonable person would post:doh:
