Rumor has it that G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra's sequel might have an Scarlett/Snake-Eyes/Ripcord love triangle. Being one of the first sub-plots commented for the sequel, I tough it'd be interesting to discuss. What are your opinions about it?

I personaly like the concepts, even if it might be viewned as "Cliche" by some, because it adds conflict and humanizes the characters. But I can see some people don't liking it, because it might deviate from the action (Which I don't think so). Especially if Scarlett ends up choosing Ripcord after all. :hehe:

There is no love triangle. Just another thing they lied about last year.

Ugh...Might seem awkward when you have a mute character involved like that...

Still don't understand why they'd stray from the cartoon & comics, and make Scarlett and Ripcord an item in the movie.

Someone said it was because Snake-Eyes was mute. They couldn't develop a relationship between that with him not talking.

Well, Duke is too busy being the poster boy to get bogged down in this, so Sunbow toon is out.

The big problem with the Snake/Scarlett relationship is it just seems like Scarlett is trying to save his humanity.

Ripcord actually seems more on Scarlett's level, a relationship dealt with as equals. Maybe its just me.

god forbid we see something different and interesting in a movie romance.

But given the nature of Snake Eyes as a character, and everything else that needs to go on in a GI Joe film, there really isn't much place to properly develop that relationship. It can be done, but a lot more extra effort has to go into it that there isn't time for.

Yup. A guy mute trying to be in a relationship? It wouldn't work. What's the point of developing it if the other character can't speak. She flirts with him and what the hell is he gonna do? Spin his swords?

Maybe their relationship would have to be something deeper that doesn't involve flirting? Actions speak louder than words, after all.

It wouldnt bother me. I mean, they couldnt use Duke because he was in a "love story" with Baroness. It could work by introducing Snake Eyes and Scarlets past relationship through flashbacks. This could be the reason why she cant fully develope with Ripcord. In a sequel I mean. If they do this.

Seems lame to have her kissing and loving Ripcord, who know one barley remembers from the mythos. She and SE are an item al the way through. She is his mouth piece. Why would she be so deeply involved into his thoughts and not be in love with him? Just cause some funny new guy comes along? Stupid, they ust wanted you to have some emotional investment into the characters that's it.

Too bad we didn't get Stalker in this film. An African American character that didn't need racial make-overs, AND he is one of the original Joe's.

Where da white wimmen at? Score one for the brothas, I says.

facta non verba. they already had scarlett hanging on snake eyes when the joes were sitting around. it just takes little things like that. show snake interrupting a mission to save her. have him embrace her in a quiet moment. i would love a scene when the joes are captured and a cobra viper smacks scarlett and snake eyes breaks his bonds and goes ape **** on them. and you could take a classic scene from the comics where she is badly injured, near death, and snake eyes speaks a single word, "scarlett."
they're not in high school, there're plenty of easy ways to show a relationship without snake eyes asking her if it hurt when she fell from heaven.

That's the way I see it as well. It's not impossible or difficult to put forth a developing relationship between the two characters to say the least. Actions do speak louder than words afterall.

Once again, people that say it can't work just lack creativity in thinking ways to make it that way.

Hmm, you know what? That could work actually. And having a love triangle between the three wouldn't be as in your face as something as SM3 with him silent and all. I could dig it.

I like this idea. Plus Snake Eyes isn't mute in the movie he took a vow of silence, well unless I missed something. I think the love triangel would be interresting.

I like the idea that Scarlett is the one thing in the world Snake Eyes would break his vow of silence for. Hearing him say her name in a desperate situation would say a lot more than some lengthy monologue about how mushy she makes him feel.

This would be kind of dark, but what if Snake Eyes and Scarlett were both captured, and Snake Eyes was being tortured. The interrogators realize they're not getting anything out of him, so then they start torturing Scarlett in front of him. Scarlett begs Snake Eyes not to talk, but eventually he can't take it anymore, and breaks his silence. Snake Eyes is pretty much the greatest warrior on the planet, but Scarlett is his Achilles's heel.

good stuff. i would love him to let her take his mask off too.

Felt they could have shown a moment with Snake Eyes and Scarlett that even suggested there might be something, but I didn't see it.

Snake Eyes didn't really get a lot of character development. They showed that he was pretty much the best, which was bad ass, but they didn't really get a chance to flesh out a personality for him. Hopefully that changes in the sequel.
