Byung Hun Lee To Start Filming G.I. JOE 2 In December

Quaid needs to calm the **** down....and not give Sommers any more bad ideas.

Yeah but that movie wasn't a box office success.

To be honest, neither was GIJ, $150 million domestic on a budget of $175 million when the studio's only get 55% of the domestic gross is NOT a success.

Dont even bring foriegn numbers in either as only 15% of that goes to the studio.

If based only on movie takings, then perhaps. However, you've neglected the movie's merchandising. Considering Hasbro's probably one of the major forces bankrolling these movies, profits taken from movie-related toy sales will also be something they're looking at. If the merchandise sold well, they'd consider it a success. After all, that's why they are making these movies.

P.S.: Just did some research. According to Bloomberg:

Bloomberg said:

Considering the two movies essentially singlehandedly gave the company a 8.8% rise for their third quarter profits in the middle of a recession (admitted by Hasbro) whilst their competitors all saw drops, sequels of these movies are almost guaranteed.

Uh, It made $300 mil. Check the box office results. Plus, It's also the number 1 dvd in america. It was the number 1 movie in america when it came out, and now it's the number 1 dvd. Sequel is 100% assured.

I can't wait for the sequel!! Loved the first. :)

van Helsing did all of those things. No sequel.

Perhaps. But Van Helsing didn't turn one of its major financial backers into the sole company in its field to have a rise in profits whilst all others dropped in the middle of a recession.

Was Van Helsing the #3 DVD of the year in a very competetive market? Granted that GI Joe's total DVD / BR tally will probably sink to #4 when Star Trek comes out, but I digress-- people are eating it up on home disc, and seeing as it's managed best Wolverine's DVD numbers it should come as no surprise when it gets green lit.

Oh yeah, and as Mr. Peasant was so kind as to remind us: TOYS!
