Things those of you don't like about the Nolan Bat-movies.

I think there was so much potential in BB but it failed to live up to what it could have been, BB has the best script of any bat movie ( and this comes from a die hard B89,BR fan) but it fails the above poster is right Nolan got the heart of batman but missed the look and feel.

not only that, but it felt like nolan kept stepping on batmans cape. it never really took off. i think it has something to do with nolans semi-idiotic view that EVERYTHING in batmans world must be possible in real life or it doesnt work. this is a very botched view of the batman material. no wonder, nolan never read a comic book of batman. thats why he got the ubernerd david "the bastard" goyer to write the script. horrible desicion, if the blade movies are any indication. the dialogue in the movie, i cannot picture anyone in real life saying that crap, especially the much hated "its what i doooo". i also hated the thugs lines, like "can he really FLY? i heard he can DISAPPEAR!", you can smell the cheese a mile away. when i watch the burton films, the dialogue is sharp and witty in that dark way by both the heroes and villians, and if only BB could have at least matched up to the walters/hamm dialgue, it would have improved the movie much more. instead, we got a watered down version of spiderman 1 mixed with rehashes/revisions of B89. figures. the parellels between B89 and begins astound me.

on a side note, i HAATED the completely phony-looking cgi bats in begins. i thought the Returns cg bats were a heck of alot more convincing, another example of how cgi was at its best in its early days. but the begins bats were dreadfully fake. i also liked the iconic image of keatons batman gliding through the bats and the crowd alot more then bale quicklly leaping through fake bats in a stairwell. i thought bale looked cooler leaping down the starwell in the trailer without the cg bats then the final product.

You don't even know what you're even talking about. You're just trying to find poor excuses to critizise BB.

Nolan never read a Batman comic? - It was Tim Burton who never read a Batman comic.

Yet, I love both incarnations. They're both worthy of the myth. And, honestly, I think Waters' script (including dialogue) is the worst in the series. Read his draft, dude! ;) It's terrible. No wonder they had to call Wesley Strick for a (much needed) re-write. And even when he came there were lots of problems with the BR script. Burton wasn't happy with it 100 % and wanted some more time with it but WB didn't allow him to take any more time, so...

ANYWAY, I'm a BATMANITE. And I'm also a fan of both Christopher Nolan and Tim Burton (outside the Batman franchise, I'm talking), so it's great having my fav directors provide their version of Batman.

Completely false. Burton read a decent amount of the material, it's a proven fact. People took a quote from him (that was already secondhand from Kevin Smith, mind you) and blew it up into something to flame Burton over. He doesn't read comic books as a hobby. He read them as research for B89, and although he wasn't an avid reader, he liked the Batman comics better than any others when he was a kid, but he wasn't a comic-book-kid.

Get your facts straight, would it kill you to do actual research to back up your criticism?

i know very much about what im talking about. and no, im finding both personal and true reasons why i dislike BB.

both have never read the comics before making there movies. its just burton has publicly said he never liked comics. well, i for one agree with him. i like the batman movies, but i ws never a fan of the comics, nor did i grow up reading them. but i do like batman, and the movies when they come out.

same here man. both are good, but i still prefer burtons take. burtons batman seemed more mythic in a way, surley you can see THAT. i think what helped is that burton didnt explain every little thing and kept the mystery of batman intact, while nolan basically destroyed the notion of a mysertious batman and gave us his life story.

oh, thats brings up another thing, BB felt too much like a bruce wayne bio-pic then a batman film. i hate bio pics, but i guess because its batman, ill make an exception.

@ GoogleMe: I think Nolan has read a Batman comic before. Even his brother did. And he's said several times that Neal Adams and Denny O' Neil are part of the poeple who have influenced him most as director (together with Ridley Scott, etc.).

I love the way Nolan is doing things. I mean seriously, I like things more realistic cause they're easier to relate to. Last thing I want to see is these new Batman movies looking like the cheesy Spiderman movies that only 8 year olds can enjoy. If you like that kind of crap good for you, but the REALISM is what makes Batman most peoples' favorite superhero. The only thing I didn't like about Begins was when Gordon drove the tumbler and blew up the railway...that was kind of dumb.

this is such a lame comeback, its not even funny.

Your comeback is actually lame because you discount all the other points I brought up. How about you go back and respond to them, if you can.

So of course you would hate a movie actually based on the comics besides just the names of characters.

Only after people remove the pompous "In Nolan We Trust" things from their sigs, right? lol.

Because heaven forbid people actually enjoy something. The "In Nolan We Have Doubt" thing is amazingly smug. It's basically sneering at anyone who dares to enjoy the Nolan films.

It's not about enjoyment. It's about extremism. I mean, it's one thing to enjoy the hell out of Begins (I did), it's one thing to be a big fan of Nolan (which I am), but to start acting like he's some Infallible individual we can have complete trust in (for really no reason besides making one good Batman movie), is just being overly extreme. IMO, at least.

There's a difference between telling a Batman Begins disliker "hey, trust Nolan" and saying "I trust Nolan to do a good job."

I think it's cute.

What about us who enjoy the Burton films? Not everyone here (including myself) is beating off to Nolan every night.

I definitely agree with this especially in light of one of my favorite directors (Sam Raimi) dropping the biggest turd I've seen in a theatre all summer.
