The last 10 mins...

I never knew a microwave to the face could be so sexy. That last scene... it's ****ing incredible what they were able to capture. And Cox's performance is so good, he just looks so drained and done but doesn't ever stop. I love the very last punch he delivers... it's so much that he falls to the floor.

It's like this hallway fight was the penance for the playground scene. Thank you, comic Gods.

Alrighty, two episodes in! This one was a slight step down from the first episode to me. I had my doubts about "Night Nurse". I figured the character was just going to be a sounding board for Matt, since he (supposedly) needs to share his secret with someone. But I enjoyed Claire. She seems alright. But I just don't think they need to donate too much time to the character.

I really liked the flashbacks. In a way, I wish they were linear. The tragic fate of Battlin' Jack Murdock was great. I really hated that we didn't get to actually see the boxing scenes. What's up with that? Having 9 year old Matt swiggin' scotch and sewing up his old man was OTT,even by my standards.

The Karen/Foggy scenes were cute.

Loved that hall fight. The guy takes a microwave oven to the head!:applaud It felt like a video game level where the bad guys keep coming and your hands are getting sore. :woot:

I've always been a bit dubious to the fact that they always play up DD's getting the **** kicked out of him. I mean,Captain America,Spidey, plenty of other heroes take a beating. But why does it seem like DD's the only one who's always on death's door?

I was glad to see him actually save the kid. As I said before,I hope we get to some comic book style villains before this is over.

Anyway,the adventure continues on!:daredevil:daredevil

Mike, anyone remembers Mike Murdock? The fake twin Matt made up and made him come out to Foggy and Karen with the "Yo, I'm Matt's twin brother, and I'm Daredevil."
The fella with that username is exempt from this question.

The ending fight was cool. Some of the punches didn't quite land and the guy fell over anyway.

I was worried it was going to be one of those "in media res" eps where we get the opening shot of him in the dumpster and the rest of the episode is a flashback leading up to it. Glad they didn't go that route.

Well, he doesn't exactly have a super soldier serum running through his veins or can walk away after having a car crashed on him. Except for his super senses, he's still pretty much human. So it seems only right that compared to Captain America and Spider-Man, he's gonna get roughed up a lot harder.

Dude on Agents of Shield seemed kind of young in the present day. Must've been in his teens during that Battling Jack fight, heh heh.

It's been discussed elsewhere, but the dude's almost 40 and the fight with Jack was less than 20 years earlier. That's perfectly fine for an up and coming boxer fighting a seasoned (over the hill) vet. I was surprised it was more than just an Easter Egg and was actually incorporated into the classic story.

^^Seeing your screen name reminded me. It was a nice little "nudge-wink" to Matt's "Mike Murdock" persona with Claire calling him Mike.

Yep. I found out about that when people talked about the scenes shown at Comic-Con. Hopefully, that's the extent Mike Murdock ever shows up, though ;)

Well, so, this is the episode that we ended with last night (I know, we didn't get very far and we won't be able to continue until tonight since I promised my sister we wouldn't watch more until she got back from the class she's teaching today).... that fight scene at the end was AWESOME. I loved the continuous tracking shot... or, probably more accurate, the 'faked' (?) continuous tracking shot. There were surely some 'cheat' transitions in there due to the space - but they were extremely well done and made it seem absolutely flawless.

The end fight. Best I've seen in YEARS. This shows why I think crap like The Raid/The Raid 2 sucks. Not endless bs. Get in- do what you need to do- get out. No prolonging the fight just to show pointless violence. Smooth fighting. Those who know me know how much I love Bruce Lee. I've always wanted to do a Bruce film- showing how he ACTUALLY FOUGHT. Not like in his movies. How he'd really take someone down. The end fight in DD ep 2 is very close to how he'd do it. Mostly hands. Marvel has my admiration.

Strangely enough, one would think that kind of action we see in The Raid would fit something attached to the Marvel Cinematic Series like a glove, but instead the show makers went with more grounded fighting.

That trigeminal nerve tho. :awesome:

As already mentioned, the end fight was insane. Brutal, genuine and exhilerating. I loved how Matt steeled himself in the hallway before getting to business.

9/10

A notable step-up from the first. A solid story this time round.

Great tension building. That hallway fight wouldn't have been nearly as awesome had it not been for the slow build-up beforehand and the badass way Matt enters the scene.

Only downside was the Foggy stuff. The actor's just not up to par.

I think he gets better as the season progresses. If you make it all the way to the end, he might surprise you.

Doesn't have the buildup showing the geography of the fight, so this will have to do for now.

Love the way he gets tired.

It worked. It was also dramatic and entertaining. When I watched The Raid 2 I was constantly saying "When does this end?" As good as the lead guy was, the fights should have ended much sooner. He certainly had openings. With DD, they have him ending the fights at the right pace. It's also great that they show that Matt isn't the only good fighter in the world. There are other highly trained fighters out there. One just assumes that his heightened sense give him an edge.

Really good episode. I'm really starting to like this series. The end fight scene was great but it was a bit fake looking. The hits didn't look hard enough.

Goodness... That Olboy-ish fight scene was :wow:! That's exactly how intense fight scenes should be in CMB movies. I really like Claire as well and her moments with Matt. The Karen/Foggy scenes were cute and provides a nice balance to the heart tugging scenes between Matt and his dad.

Now I'm off to watch more! :)

I feel like it was smart to do that one take fight so early in the series. Anyone who sees that would be compelled to watch the rest of the show.

Well said. I don't even think that was the high point of the show for me either (that would the E11 climax, good GAWD), it only gets better from there. Still taken aback by how good this was. Gotta give it another run (although not all at once this time) over the next couple weeks.

Also, keep in mind that Matt in this scene is fighting while still suffering from severe injuries, and Charlie Cox (if that indeed was him and not a stuntman) did a fantastic job showing that the only thing that's really pushing Matt forward is sheer will and determination to rescue the kid no matter what. So the fight is as much establishing Matt's character as it is a great action set-piece. And what's also great about the scene isn't so much that it's a long-take (although that allows the camera to not cut away anytime someone lands a punch and then cut to the person recoiling from the hit like way too many directors appear to do) but how it shows that, no matter how good or skilled you are in hand-to-hand fighting, you're still going to get hit more than once, and you're still going to get tired and not be pulling fancy footwork and techniques all the time.

The year willcome when MCU phase 3 is over. Avengers Infinity War is out and all the Netflix series have finished and the MCU takes a break or something. And I'll still be sitting there like "damn that fight scene was good."

It's the fight scene I've always wanted from Batman.
