Official Description:
The Kents struggle to adjust to their new normal. Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) helps throw Kyle (Erik Valdez) and Chrissy (Sofia Hasmik) an impromptu wedding that doesn’t quite go as planned. Gregory Smith (“Everwood,” “Rookie Blue”) directed the episode written by George Kitson & Max Kronick (#404). Original airdate 10/21/2024.

So no money in the budget for a wedding, I'm guessing. It'd be funny if Kyle and Chrissy's final appearance in this season was a non-wedding!

That said, nice to see the Kents acclimating to having Clark back, Jordan and Lois finally talking, Jonathan flexing his powers (seriously, this episode makes the case for him getting powers first), and we still got some moments of action with Jonathan saving people in the fire, even though it ended up being a trap.

I'm more disappointed in this episode than anything.

THIS is the episode that Clark comes back? And...its practically back to status quo? It was as if he wasnt even gone. They should've spent half the episode with Clark re-adjusting to land of the living, being disoriented, while this wedding is happening and he arrives with everyone being happy go lucky because of it and it feeling weird to him. Embrace your inner Buffy, writers.

Superman returning and training Jonathan in using his powers is all that matters for me. I would like to see Jonathan and Jordan become New Superman and Absolute Superman respectively.

Well… I thought Clark’s “dramatic” return to life and to his family was decidedly underwhelming. Indeed, it seemed so suspiciously false and simplistic that I was convinced this was a dream sequence — that Lois would awake from her happy fantasy and be forced to reconfront her grief. Not so.

Now from a story logic POV, I suppose it all makes sense. Since his death, everyone seemed to take for granted that Supes’ resurrection was just a matter of restoring his missing heart. So after a donor heart (via Sam Lane) was delivered to the FOS, a successful transplant and Superman’s return was, apparently, inevitable. But on an emotional level, this return felt rather banal.

Instead of giving narrative space to Kyle and Chrissy’s (non) wedding, an episode devoted to the Kent family (and especially Lois and Clark’s poignant reunion) would have been, methinks, a more satisfying story subject.

Disappointed in the episode because they turned the return of Superman into a filler episode. I don’t understand why Jordan is not helping his brother develop his powers. They should be fighting together. You can see the budget issues clearly with this episode.

If I had to guess, probably still bitterness and resentment over the voicemail with Luthor revealing that Lois chose Jonathan over him, even if it was a Kobayashi Maru-style no win scenario. At least they squashed that.

But even if that was the reason, Jordan's problem was with Lois, not Jonathan. So there really shouldn't have been much friction between the brothers.

Did not love this episode. Clark’s return felt incredibly anti-climactic. The one bright spot was Jonathan being exactly how I hoped he’d be with powers. Him actually getting Clark’s Kessel Run reference that his brother didn’t put a smile on my face. Some nice character beats, but hopefully that was the last Kyle/Chrissy-focused ep. It’s the final season so I don’t begrudge them getting one to tie up their storyline, but that’s pretty much all we have time for at this point.

So, did Superman accidentally kill that guy at the mall? Even if the explosion from those gauntlets weren't fatal, I'm pretty sure the guy was blasted into the raging fire behind him.

Glad it wasn't just me. I echo all of this.

I'm just hoping that now DOS is over, we can just have a great rest of the season.

AUDIENCES: It's going to be difficult for Superman to come back after Episode 2.

An emotional opening without a line of dialogue, definitely a filler episode though, but still enjoyable enough. I'm liking where Jordan's arc seems to be heading and always liked Kyle a little more than most.

Surprised nobody mentioned the appearance of the other Cushing daughter and how much she's grown :funny:

I feel more bad for AI Clark at the FOS. All of that hype into making his presence relevant and he's already useless by the next episode.lol

I just rewatched that scene. And, yeah, the encounter did look kinda fatal. But I think fiction/comic book “logic” is in effect: i.e., if we’re not explicitly shown a corpse, nobody died. ;nd

Just a small gripe was when Clark was flying with his glasses on at 30 times the speed of sound and they didn't break or after the crash. Oh and when Clark's son flew through the glacier his generic every day clothes were undamaged.

I see its time to check in on Flick's favorite subplot. At least this is a nice wrap up for that storyline.

Also, good lord, what have they been feeding Sophie in the off screen limbo she's been held in. She's as tall as the boys.

Kind of sad they didn't even give Clark the black suit for his return, much less the mullet. The issue with a shortened season and full plan, that his return sort of had to be quickened. But on the other hand, the shorter season means we don't get 2-3 episodes of Jordan sulking about the phone call. Because I am so glad they got that over with this episode.

Loved Clark training Jon. And we got wine parents scene. And even better one, because now Clark can get drunk. We need a drunk Clark scene now.

Wow, Superman returned to life super quickly (yeah, Lara El hologram super healing bath whatever, which we not really saw, but still. Wasn't there some heart involved here as well..?) And biker Luthor from last episde? I'm not complaining. Without Supermamn this show would be unbearable. And the mourning of Clark Kent went rather quickly as well. As it should.

I totally enjoyed that Lois and Jordan moment together. He always tries his clumsiest best wanting to be like his dad and seems to mostly fail. It takes a mother to comfort him there, and of course Tulloch is brilliant in those moments.

Of course we had to endure Lana Lang's totally uninteristing ex husand beeing married with that girl working with Lois, whatever their names are?

But hey, we actually get to see Superman in like five seconds! On an sctual Superman show!

I love that Lois has one of her super sons as back up when meeting up with this villian classic roof top style (can we pleease address her ridiclusly amount of plastic surgery, I'm almost at the same age as Sam Lane. but good God, that would've been such a turn off).

For me this show is totally carried by the chemistry of Hoechlin and Tulloch. They're awesome toghether, and the whole family stuff with super sons is of course more interesting now than Before.

But pleeeeeeease give us more Superman cool stuff. Maybe with his sons. Or perhaps a super threat which means that the Irons family (so godamn under used durng the seasons it's just ridicoulus) need to be involved. Imagine how awesome that could be.

I really hope we don't get Doomsday as a "villian" anymore on screen from years now. IMO he was never a true villian regardless of origin, but rather a kryptonian monster in which Szuperman already has fought countless times through the silver age comics.

I mean, we even had this 20+ years ago, as crappy as it was lol:

I always had a soft spot for Chloe regardless this stupid story in which she was hiding this versiion of Doomsday like a werevolf. the only bearable character in this show IMO. BUT OF COURSE the actress just had to be involved with some insane abusive stuff. Of course she had.

Not sure if you heard, but the show had its budget reduced for its final season. Heck, it's reason why most of the series regulars were downgraded to recurring guest stars.

Personally, I would rather have a few great quality Superman sequences than several bad quality ones.

Jon being the good son was written in the stars.

Sitting here like "who's that random girl next to Sarah at the wedding" and nearly spat out my drink when I realized it was the rarely-seen little sister now just towering over her.

Seeing her as tall as the Kent boys was... a shock. Percy Jackson going to have a similar hilarious growth spurt.
