Season 5 Episode 10 Discussion "Mother's Mercy"

The Unsullied need too get some of that Sand Snake poison. Speaking on that shouldnt they have given poison longer to work on the girl like awe until they left the harbor or the gulf. Jaime would be a poor father if was done in Dorne after they kill the only person glad you are her father.

I don't know why, since I was spoiled as to Jon's death, but I was nervous as hell watching that episode. My heart was pounding like I was running a marathon.

- I'm not fussed about Jon's death because I'm 95% positive he'll be revived by Melisandre.

- I hope the Night's Watch has a plan for how to deal with all the Wildlings they brought into Castle Black. They may not leave quietly. Wait, are they in Castle Black, or were they left to wait outside the gates?

- Stannis's death was odd, what with the cutaway. Given the horrible thing he'd done this season, you'd think the writers would give the fans the bloodshed they'd been craving. That's what they've always done with villains before (see Meryn Trant for an example from this episode). Maybe they were letting the Stannis fans down easy. I'm glad at least he knew he was screwed for a good long time before he died.

- I'm worried that Ser Davos won't find out the truth about Shireen's death. He must avenge her and kill Melisandre!

- Theon and Sansa are free, yay! I'm so glad they took Myranda out before jumping. She was loathesome.

- I'm rather glad the Boltons are still alive. They're entertaining villains and I want to see their reaction to Sansa and Theon escaping.

- I didn't feel sorry for Cersei during her Walk of Shame. I'm relishing how bat**** crazy this and Myrcella's death is going to drive her. Now that she's got Kevan, Qhyburn, and FrankenMountain on her side the High Sparrow had better watch his back.

- Speaking of Myrcella, her death was not a surprise but I liked it just because of how angry it's going to make Cersei. Once Trystane gets to KL, Cersei will see to it that he's toast.

- The Dorne subplot disappointed but I think a lot of that had to do with the Sand Snakes. I wish they'd been cut out and Bronn had been given someone else to talk to. Oh well, maybe his connection with Tyene will come into play in the future and it won't all have been a waste.

- I wish the Dothraki would kill Dany. Too bad she has the strongest plot armor of any character in GOT. Hoping Daario does while searching for her. I've never liked the character, no matter who's playing him.

- Generally the Essos subplots drag out for me, but at least Tyrion and Varys will be together. That oughta be entertaining.

Oh, that seems rather likely. I really enjoyed reading that.

Not even going to lie, I thought Myranda was one of, if not the hottest person on the show. Strange right? I instantly loved her when I saw her murder and torture people alongside Ramsay; like a dream come true.

- I'm rather glad the Boltons are still alive. They're entertaining villains and I want to see their reaction to Sansa and Theon escaping.
Agreed. I'm actually okay if Ramsay kills my favorite characters. He's a fun guy to watch, no matter what he's doing.

Thing with people like Grey Worm, Daario, and Barristan Selmy... they fill the same role. And it's a role that Jorah Mormont already filled. Dany's just got a bunch of Jorah's following her around now. I think Daario's actor is certainly better than the previous one, and he looks like a cool guy to follow, I just don't think there's much for him to do in the show; at least, not right now.

I think it's because everything was set specially in Mereen for a long period of time. Before, Dany and her followers roamed Essos, conquering cities and outsmarting everyone she came across. I liked seeing that journey she had to take. But now I feel she's stuck in Mereen, and I'd much rather see her traveling around again, not playing politics in a city that hates her. And like I said above, all of her side characters are just a bunch of Jorah Mormonts.

No, Ramsay has the biggest plot-armor on the show. The writers are clearly in love with him. I expect that, for his next trick, he'll conquer all of The Vale (with his 20 ninja Green Berets) whilst naked and riding a dog like a horse.

-Unless the writers turn Jaimie, Bronn, AND Doran into complete morons (which given how things have gone this season might happen unfortunately), they should know IMMEDIATELY who's behind this. The Dorne plot ended as it's always been, lame.

-Sansa in Winterfell, pointless and regressive. Great job there writers.

-The Walk of Shame, that was actually done pretty well. Although the use of a body double caused some awkwardness, but oh well.

-Tyrion and Varys back together again, cool.

-Stannis end was really underwhelming as well.

Of course they love Ramsay. Endless torture porn.

I hated this season. It took forever for very little to happen, in as anticlimactic a way as possible.

Now to be fair, I always found Jon Snow and Iceland to be dull. Especially after five seasons of waiting for the White Walkers to show up. Only now did it become kind of interesting with Stannis being added to the mix... but then they destroyed his character and story arc in a very anticlimactic way.

I also never cared much for Daenary's plot. It got better. But, not by a whole lot. Tyrion and Varys. Surely they can't **** that up.

The Dorne plot could have been interesting, but the writing was just God awful. The Sand Snakes were a joke. Everyone seems to have lost common sense. Jaime's rescue plan amounts to sneaking into the castle, and just asking her to come home. Then what's her name decides to poison Myrcella while the boat that is carrying her home is still within swimming distance of the port...

King's Landing and Arya's story line are still interesting.

I feel like they lost a story writer / director or something.

It would be funny if Jon would have insulted the men stabbing him once he knew it was coming. Come on I bet your momma could stab harder. Did your sister teach you too stab a man. What you crying about u opie wanna be. Come on give me the final blow so i know when I come back which one to murder in there sleep first.

Or just say something like "You jerk!" Whenever he got stabbed then end it with Olly, "You dumbass."

Maaaan they killed my main man Snow. He better come back to life.

Cersei may blame Tyrion for daughters death. After all, who sent her to Dorne?

It was tywin and cersei actions that got the Viper involved and killed by the mountain. Tyrion yes sent her to Dorne and really the Viper would be ashamed of his wife for i think he had great honor and meant that they did not hurt little girls in Dorne.

After reading internet reactions to the season finale that kid who plays Olly must be receiving tons of hatemail right about now. I feel sorry for the boy.

Not even going to lie, I thought Myranda was one of, if not the hottest person on the show. Strange right? I instantly loved her when I saw her murder and torture people alongside Ramsay; like a dream come true.

Oh, she was definitely beautiful, she just had a godawful personality.

Thing with people like Grey Worm, Daario, and Barristan Selmy... they fill the same role. And it's a role that Jorah Mormont already filled. Dany's just got a bunch of Jorah's following her around now. That's a good point about all these guys more or less fulfilling the same role, though I like Grey Worm. It's a pity Daario wasn't killed instead of Hizdahr because I enjoyed Hiz's adversarial relationship with Dany. Their marriage would've been more interesting to watch than another man hero-worshipping Dany.

I actually thought all that stuff was pretty boring. I preferred the Sons of the Harpy storyline because it showed Dany being vulnerable and making poor, irrational decisions, instead of the usual badass savior depiction the writers give us. I think my main problems with Dany are: she's not that interesting a character; Essos is too far removed from anything else happening in the plot; and the writers seem to be shoving her down our throats as the awesome character we're supposed to love. I always rebel against that.

I think next season will advance Dany bunches.
Predictions

She will add the Khalisar to her army
Tyrion will release and bond with a dragon
I have come to believe Tyrion is Danys half brother
We need 3 Targaryens after all
When the story ends Tyrion will sit the iron throne

If the wall comes down, would the traitorous Crows be done
Sam would make a good hand to the king

Question : we see Danaerys dropping her ring when the Dothraki arrive, anyone knows why ? Was it Drogo's engagement ring ?

I honestly felt that Daenerys dropped the ring so she could bang some Dothrakis, but she's leaving the ring there so when the search party comes aka Legolas, he finds the ring and:

Any other explanation ? :)

That literally is the explanation.

Tyrion will release and bond with a dragon

Only people with either Valyrian blood or a lot of ham can tame a Dragon.

I have come to believe Tyrion is Danys half brother
Then you ruin the dynamic between Tyrion and Tywin with the theory that Tyrion is a rape child.

We need 3 Targaryens after all
But there's only Daenerys Targaryen.

- I hope the Night's Watch has a plan for how to deal with all the Wildlings they brought into Castle Black. They may not leave quietly. Wait, are they in Castle Black, or were they left to wait outside the gates?

They're south from Castle Black in their "own" lands now.

With Stannis and Shireen dead its why I think Stannis is not dead. Unless they upgrade Gendry next season for he is only Legit Baratheon left. My belief is for Dany or whom ever to rule they ave too have the banners , Stark, Baratheon, Lannister with Targ to beat the walkers. I mean on the symbol to the show it shows the 4 house. The Stag Wolf, Lion and Dragon. I think the Lannisters will all be Lannisters simply because they are family its just Cersei hates Tyrion and she will have to face him and her face her crimes once all her children are dead and its no longer Tyrions fault.

Yeah, the bad cg stuck out like a sore thumb to me. I'd prefer it if they just showed the nude model from the rear, where we could not see her face and just show Headey from the shoulder up, if she didn't wanted to do nudity.

There have actually been scenes in the show where Headey has actually shown her breasts; I believe when Jaimie raped her....anyhow, the cg took away from the otherwise powerful walk scene....

I would like to see this outcome. And yeah, I do think Tyrion has the ham to charm a dragon into compliance, probably the littlest one. :p

Just so people are aware: Stannis is DEAD. Gwendoline Christie confirmed it in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Well that doesn't actually mean anything. Of course I would be surprised if he wasn't dead but you never know.

Yeah I don't get it, Headey has always had a great body and never been shy about showing it before.

Seriously?

This trend of people constantly being cynical about and doubting things is getting beyond silly.

Well, it would be highly counterproductive to confirm a character's survival (if Stannis survived) when his apparent death is one of the major cliffhangers of the finale. It's pretty much the same with Kit Harington as well; with the statements being released that he's not coming back for next season since Jon's dead as well.
