Supergirl Season 5, Episode 10: "The Bottle Episode" (SPOILERS)

I feel this episode was inspired by the comics storyline Legion of 3 Worlds.

Well, that very brief use of an NSync song during the bar fight was certainly an...inspired choice. Otherwise, good episode. Figured that these shows would have some sort of fallout with Crisis, but at least compared to Batwoman's reveal at the end, I didn't expect it to be so soon in the episode, but front and center as well. Still, curious to see how long Brainy keeps up the front in working with Luthor and whether the others will catch on.

Especially Dreamer since they broke up.

This episode was a mixed bag. Some of it was good, some of it was bloody awful. I think it was hindered a little because it had to set up the new status quo.

I like Nsync, I love it’s Gonna Be Me but boy was that jarring & stupid.

The Nia Brainy stuff is awful and tbh I think her character is pointless.

I really hope Lex is gonna be on Superman and Lois. I will actually be annoyed if they end up making him Supergirl’s arch enemy from here on out.

Still we’ve seen the beginnings of some potentially good stuff with Brainiac 5 (who finally looks good after going green) so hopefully it will lead to great things.

N'Sync should never be used during a fight scene. Don't think they knew for sure they were doing Superman and Lois when they did this episode. So Lex will probably do both shows. Less Brainy would be nice.

His time in National City will probably be done by the time S&L comes around.

Maybe, Definitely if they write Lena out. I'd kind of like to see him guest star on non crossover Flash just to see his reaction to Star Labs

I have a feeling they are leading up to Brainiac, the villain. We will see if it is this season or the next.

A great Brainy centered episode. Loved seeing the surviving Brainys. Especially finally seeing Meghan Rath being Brainy related some how. Kind of would have liked her to stick around, but hopefully she comes back. Also loved the cheesy Legion costume the other Brainy had. I do wonder if Indigo will ever show up again (ideally with better makeup and costume). Brainy's new look is nice, especially the suit, but more simpler than the old Legion costume.

I do love the post-Crisis set up with everyone. Not just having Lex back, but Lillian as well. And clearly, Lillian was lied to. Kind of wish the Kryptonian witches had stuck around as well.

Who is Lillian meant to be? Is she a different one?

It still feels like Earth 38. Shouldn't there be more references to other things now from Earth 1?

I wish there were a few more drastic changes like someone they never knew before suddenly being there like after Flashpoint with Julian now being Barry's partner.

Not a bad episode, more Crisis than COIE actually was funninly enough. Love Brainys new look with the blonde hair, let him keep it!

BUTTTTT.....this was to soon after COIE..we just got these merged Earths only for a bunch of them not to be merged and an entire planet managing to escape it. We are given this new "continuity" only for every character we know to be fully aware of it which kind of takes what little punch COIE had..gone.

They did a great job casting the female Brainy, she legit looked like his sister and it was a great Brainy episode overall.

Meaghan Rath is his sister, which is why she looks like it.

Earth-Prime is NOT pre-crisis Earth-1. All the Earths in the pre-crisis universe/multiverse including Earth-1 were destroyed. A new universe/multiverse was created after the battle at the dawn of time. Earth-Prime is a new Earth for all the shows so we will see differences on every show.

The Lillian and every other character besides Kara, J’onn, Barry, Kate, Sara, Ryan Choi, and Lex are different because they are Earth-Prime versions. The characters who were at the battle at the dawn of time remembered everything. J’onn went around restoring key people’s memories. We know Lena retained her memory because Lex made a deal with the Monitor. The Lillian we saw didn’t remember but Lex explained everything to her.

Since the new Multiverse is out there, likely along with an Earth-38 - What if Supergirl, Lex Luthor, Martian Manhunter, and Lena Luthor have switched places with their Earth-Prime counterparts who may be on Earth-38?

The new multiverse is not a replica of the old one. The pre-crisis multiverse was destroyed. As an example there’s an Earth-2 but it’s not the same as pre-crisis Earth-2. We should probably stop using pre-crisis designations. Right now all the CW shows are on Earth-Prime and currently don’t know that there any other Earths in their new universe.

I'm well aware that that the new multiverse is not the same as the old one and that the Earth-Prime heroes don't know that the new multiverse is out there. When the new multiverse is out there, you have to assume that there is an Earth-38 that may or may not be the same as the old one.

Ok finally got to sit down and watch the whole episode (stand by my original assessment - twas a good one), and seriously: none of y'all bothered to mention that they brought in the Anti-Life Equation? You all failed me.

I dont need them to bring in Darkseid and hug him because he had a sad childhood in order to defeat him so....

I want Darkseid to be in the Superman and Lois show first before appearing in Supergirl.

The Anti-Life Equation could be in the next crossover.

Please explain why any of the Supercousins shared villains should be automatically off limits to Supergirl or appear first in the Superman and Lois show. I think anyone in their shared rogues gallery should be available to both shows. I’d like to see two great shows and IMO that can be done without making one a second class Kryptonian.

Superman and Supergirl should just switch rogue galleries.

I didn't say Darkseid should be off-limits, but we want to see the rivalry between Superman and Darkseid first before it spills to Supergirl. I don't want them to make the same mistake like they did with Lex Luthor.

So J'onn practically went to every character and was like "Surprise! Here's what you missed!". Im not a fan of her having all of her old memories, they could've used this to have a slightly new dynamic with Lex.

Actually, I think her having her memories is because of Lex. His deal with the Monitor was to save her and that would include all of her memories from before Crisis.

What is this nonsense about the multiverse being dead when they went out of their way to explicitly show us multiple earths survived the Crisis?

I'm hoping it was showing that they are still out there, but just so disassociated now from the one we know as Prime as to be totally undetectable anymore. Probably a good excuse for if we never see Jessie Quick again or Earth-2 Wells.

I thought this was a real good episode. My one and only detraction would the the $%$##% music video that suddenly showed up for the fight scene! Goddamn I hate when they do that! It kicked me right out of the episode and in fact I even turned the volume down so I wouldn't have to hear much of it. Please, no more!!

In fact that is the reason why I ranked this episode at 7 rather than 8. That was just too stupid.

Okay, with that out of my system, I really like Brainy's new look! So much better without the glowing balls stuck in his head, which was never a really good take on the classic look anyway. And now he's working as a double agent. Wonder how long that will last, though considering how super-Brainy he is going to be now, it should be a long time before anyone catches on.

I was really glad that Lena kept her memories, thanks to Lex's deal with the Monitor. And I actually think when Supergirl went to see her, she made some headway with Lena. Although, Lena should really smarten up a hell of a lot where her 'family' is concerned! She knows she can't trust her mother and she knows she can't trust Lex. Let's not have her keep falling into the same trap over and over again!

Looking forward to the next episode!

N*Sync moment took me out. So random.

Was surprised Brainy looked more like his comics counterpart.

Pure speculation on my part, but based off what I saw at the end of Crisis, and in the first few post-Crisis episodes, anybody that has ever appeared on a CW show (unless they died in Crisis) they are now on Earth-Prime. The Multi-Verse that was shown at the end of Crisis was just to say the other DC properties exist in the Arrowverse they are all just on another Earth and none of the Earths have any idea that the others exist.

My way of thinking too. Before Crisis the other Earths were right 'next door' to each other. But any that remain now are so far distant as to be completely undetectable. Which is good, as I like the thought of some of them still being out there, like KC Superman and Smallville Clark and Lois, and the DCU Titans.

Now that we know Oliver put right his biggest regrets, like Barry's screw up of Diggle's kids, and his mother and sister's deaths, and since Kate has gotten her Beth back, Kara got Argo back, will Barry get his Mom and/or Dad back?

I wish Laura Benanti was in the Crisis as a version of Kara's mother on some earth instead of Erica Durance.
