I guess you have all heard and read about this during the down time, here are the major key points regarding SV:
 • Tom Welling is signed with the show through an 8th season. It sounds like the producers want the show to ultimately go for eight years, and end it there.
 • Michael Rosenbaum's contract ends with Season 7, so if there is an eighth year, it will be Clark vs. other villains. However, Michael COULD guest star.
 • Aaron Ashmore will be back as Jimmy in Season 7. It sounds like he could have a 13-episode contract, though we don't think it was confirmed.
 • Justin Hartley (Green Arrow) won't be back next year as he is attached to another project.

Now I am all for a season 8 if Lex and Lois are gone. The only reason why I say this it will be somewhat easier to explain why the most smartest man in the DCU does not know that Superman and Clark are one in the same. The same goes for Lois.

Lois will stay, she's got a major arc going for her in Season 7. Lex could make some occasional appearances.

I am okay with Lex doing guest roles. I just think they need to put the glasses on Clark. But then again this show is not going to go into his years as Superman so it really doesn't matter. But it would still be nice to see them start making some steps to a dual identity and start seeing the difference between Clark on the farm and hero Clark.

Smallville will will soon be like The X-Files. They will keep it going for so long eventually replacing all of the main cast including Tom Welling & they will keep it on the air based on its name only & eventually they will replace Clark & do a show in Smallville while he is training or something & have it focused on Lana or Martha The Senator & they will keep the name Smallville. Watch this space. It is such a shame that Smallville will not end with dignity while it is still going strong.

LOL, what? They already know WHEN & HOW to end it.

Just like they always said these past 5 to 6 years that Season 7 would be the last :whatever: If it makes the CW & the WB money it is here to stay no matter what.

You're letting your imagination fly a little.

Season 7 COULD still be the last, Season 8 depends on it.

Clark will stay in Smallville for 8 to 10 years & then right before he goes to training they will introduce Kara & have Martha raise her & they will keep most of the shows main story & name only its with a main chick

I'm not sure how I feel about there maybe being a season 8. This season has been so great and has felt like a really worthy penultimate season in a lot of ways, perhaps it would be for the best to capitalize on this and deliver a truly masterful final season next year.

I don't want it to drag on too long, past it's time.

When shows do that, they really start to jump the shark. I know some people think that they've jumped the shark already, but this season IMO has been the best so far. It'll be hard to top and if Michael and Kristin won't be there after the 7th, why bother with the 8th?

Unless they're going to take Clark on a Birthright like journey across the world, or something along those lines.

I dunno. I love the show and part of me doesn't want it to end, but I don't want it to end badly either. It should end with the Grace and Dignity a Superman franchise deserves.

Oops...

Thought I was in a different thread.

Wow, this is pretty big news. 8 seasons...surprising.

That's the natural progression IMHO

I don't see Clark doing any traveling I mean the show is called Smallville for a reason.

Clark will leave sunnydale to go to Los angeles. The spin off show will involve Kara in smallville taking over for clark in smallville:D

Do we have nothing else to talk about except this?

*sigh*

Do we have nothing else to talk about except this?

With the current season being almost over

Nope

& also add in the fact that more then half of the time the Hype is way to slow to keep coming here

True and true.

You know, with all this work they've been doing on the site you'd think it'd actually help but it's just as slow as its been.

*shrug*

I hope they figure it out, this is my preferred Smallville forum.

Minimal wank and shipper bs.

...Even though the show and its characters have been spending more and more time in Metropolis the last few years...?

;)
AH! Finally! Jack, where ya been hon? Been wanting to discuss this scrip, err... I mean "8th season," G&M have been cooking up. Yeah, that's it. What they're planning for after the seventh season. *cough*

Got any metaphors of wisdom on this issue?

A few hour drive to a nearby city isn't the traveling he was referring to.

The drive time isn't what Jack was referring to either. :p

<- Knows Jack's style. LOL

Don't know what to think of this news, honestly. Granted, more SV the better. I just pray they have GREAT material (not just good) to last past a seventh season.

For me, though, the show has justified going this far. Honestly, the leap in quality from Season Four to Season Five was tremendous. And while I'm not too thrilled regarding where the end of this season is heading, I think on an individual episode-by-episode basis this season has been the strongest.

Though, as I've stated in the past, a Smallville without a heavy dose of Michael Rosenbaum makes me more than uneasy.
