Season 7: THE END?

What are you talking about? The show is not called Lex Luthor either. Like MJD pointed out, in the UK it's called Smallville: Superman the Early Years, Welling/Clark comes first in the opening credits, and Clark Kent is the 1 that's practically in EVERY SCENE.

Plot Outline: A young Clark Kent struggles to find his place in the world as he learns to harness his alien powers for good and deals with the typical troubles of teenage life in Smallvile - READ!

It's incredible all the BS you read on the internet by some posters.

And "lexlives" isn't the main character, you're so obsessed with lexlives that you typed out his username instead of Lex Luthor, lol.
i didnt mean that lex is more important than clark. i just think that they are both main characters.

i think that at the end lex will have more character development than clark.

dont hate me because i am a bigger SR fan than smallville because that will make you ......

i didnt mean that lex is more important than clark.

Well that's what you said..

I'm not hating on you, I couldn't care less what you're a fan of. You made a false statement, and I corrected you.

Well guys in the recent interview that iF Mag did to Al (3rd installment) this is what he had to say about season 7 and maybe an 8. So I guess that we are goin to get the traveling Clark if it goes to 8th season.

iF Mag said:
iF: Let’s say the CW decided to cancel you after next year, would you be able to essay into that last episode pretty quickly?

GOUGH: We feel really good about next season and I think we have eight seasons worth of stories to tell, but in the middle of next season, November, when we’re in episode 10 or 11. We have to know. Is there going to be eight, or are we done? Because if we’re done, we have to know, we have to start the launch sequence to end it.

iF: Hopefully the great ratings this year will keep you on for those eight seasons.

GOUGH: The ratings have been strong. Creatively for us, it’s been really strong. We don’t feel like we’re running out of gas and worse, treading water.

iF: You brought Lois Lane into this, but it goes against what we know about Lois Lane in the existing mythology. Are you saying this is “your” versions of SUPERMAN or eventually, will all this morph into what we know to be from SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE?

GOUGH: I think it will eventually morph into what you know, it’s whether or not you buy the explanations for how they morph in. Some people will and some people won’t. The comics over the years have certainly taken liberties with the characters and we certainly have with this story. The plan is that it will all synch up with the mythology we all know.

iF: So Lois might not know who Clark is at some point?

GOUGH: He leaves and when she meets him again, he’s this dopey guy with glasses, and oh, there might be something else. There’s a lot of ways to bring it back in line, but I think it’s been great having Erica [Durance] on the show, and see her evolution as a reporter. You look at Erica and go “that character can become Margot Kidder.”

iF: Are you committed to SMALLVILLE’s end run?

GOUGH: Yes.

Alrighty here's the "project" I alluded to. I know this is the wrong thread but since it pertains to a few posts I'll go with it.

Let me just preface this by saying I've got no video editing skills or fancy software and just worked with what I had. Still, pretty happy about this, hope you guys enjoy it. (Probably isn't quite uploaded yet).

Hey that was really good, I enjoyed it immensely. Any chance of uploading it to Yousendit or something like that, so I and maybe others could save it.

:yay:

I had a smile on my face during that whole thing. Loved it.
You should post it in the TW thread.

There are 2 superjumps that I just thought of that you didn't include - the one from Lucy and the one from..<insert title> when he first jumped from building to building.

Thanks Serene!

Yeah I wanted to include those too but don't have those eps on my computer and didn't want to pilfer them from other fan vids. My DVD sets are 3,000 miles away too! Maybe in a future edit...

Dammit, just realized I forgot to put in the other flying shot from Crusade.

That's tough. Rosenbaum plays one hell of a Lex. I truly cannot imagine Smallville without him playing Lex, and although Welling plays the main character Lex is just as important to Smallville's stories as Clark is.

I'm still shocked and impressed that they've got the show running this long. I would've thought it's days were numbered after the third season, but alas, the team of Gough & Millar turned out to be something of the world's finest.

I hope that with the announcement of Rosenbaums departure after next season, they decide to hang up the cape with one hell of a series finale. Give the show an end worthy of the decades of Superman lore behind it. Don't wait to be cancelled. End it BIG!

Sounds like Gough is hoping for an eight season (although stated he'd be able to wrap it up if he needs to in the seventh).

Would he continue on without his acting "secret weapon" (Rosenbaum), recast another actor in the role (99.9% unlikely, but I felt it still is a plausible option), or attempt to lure Rosenclown back with big bucks and big stories that'd allow him to consistently flex his massive acting muscle...?

Sounds like we'll know midway through next season.

If the show is still rocking next season like it is this season, then by all means they should throw as much money as they can to get all the regulars back for an eigth and final season. If not? Quit while you're ahead. Think about shows that were amazing after major characters left the show... I think that E.R. is the only one, but it almost needs to have a cycling cast to keep the stories from getting too stale.

What do you guys think?

If they decide to go 8 seasons and Welling's the only main cast member returning then I can only see them doing a Birthright-type season arc where Clark travels the world and is in a new spot each week. I think this has the potential to be pretty cool, but who knows what exactly they have planned...

That would actually be really cool! I don't know if they'd ever do something like that unless he had...

1. Clark has a HOT female companion
2. Tons of people to fight
3. Product placement...

All kidding aside, getting away from the other members of the cast would certainly make his return as a slightly different person (glasses, bumblyness, and hokey lingo... OH MY!) a bit more plausible.

Then again, the show's name is SMALLVILLE...
