James Marsters Returns to Smallville
Source: E! Online
September 26, 2007

E! Online reports that James Marsters is returning for four episodes of "Smallville":

We last saw Marsters's character, Dr. Milton Fine (aka Brainiac), in Smallville's fifth season finale.

While it's unclear exactly how James is returning, I can tell you he's reprising the exact same character, he's returning to set very soon and his episodes begin airing in January.

"Smallville" premieres on The CW Thursday night.

HALLELUAH!

He was definitely my favorite character from season 5, and damn, Brainiac was cool. I also have a bias for James Marsters because of I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

Definitely dude, never saw Buffy or Angel... but the guy was off the hook as Brainiac! And he's a cool Lex Luthor too.

What? How is he a cool Lex Luthor when he's never portrayed the character?

Well he's suppose to be coming back for the last 4 episodes of this season right? That was the rumour back in July

No, they're saying he'll appear in January (which likely means right after the winter hiatus).

Kick-ass. Buffy, Angel, Smallville, Torchwood, James has got one of the best resumes ever.

James Marsters pwns.

Seriously. This rocks. After all the lame-ass zoners we had to put up with last year, it'll be nice to get a real super villian again.

You're behind dude. He was Lex Luthor in Superman: Doomsday. So yeah, he was Lex Luthor and he kicked ass as Lex Luthor. :cwink:

I think this was a dead give away that BRAINIAC would be back .

Any guesses as to how he will be reserected? I mean we know that even the smallest part of brainiac containes his entire program...

I'm more concerned with how they'll get around Jor-El's line to Martha in "Zod".

"Plunging the knife into Fine (aka Brainiac) destroyed all copies of him..."

Lex only had half of the Brainiac's mainframe frome Zod. Baern destroyed that half and Clark used the power source to regenerate the Fortress. That means that the other half of Brainiac's main frame is still out there. Either that or maybe Brainiac corrupts the mainframe of Kara's ship and manifests that way.

i'm pretty sure when he goes to Conventions he gets Nerd Mauled. All he needs to do is show up in something to do with Star Wars or Star Trek and its game over.

Not to mention, he's not just playing throwaway characters. On Buffy and Angel, he's the breakway star, Spike. On Smallville, he's fan favorite villain from the comics, Brainiac. On Torchwood, he's [blackout]the archnemesis/former Time Agent of much beloved character, Captain Jack Harkness.[/blackout] Roles that fanboys LOVE.

I bet girls throw themselves at him

I would assume that (Kara's ship) to be the most logical way of bringing Brainiac back into things.

Awesome, can't wait to see him back in action.

You know what would be great? If Brainiac takes out Clark, punching the living hell out of him, and strattles Clark screaming, "Who's your daddy?!" Just a good little reference. :woot:

As you've quoted in your post, it destroyed all "copies" of him. The original was not destroyed.

I always thought that was ambiguous wording by Jor-el. Mind you he is often ambiguous, but that particular time, I thought it was for the reason that they may want to bring Brainiac back.
