Since release is around the corner this is the thread to talk about the details from early screenings and reactions.

You compare with thor that I think the least good thing about marvel, I do not know what to think. Are you positive about criticism?

I adore the first Thor film. Sure it was not quite the scope of what I would want but it handles its various elements well and the meat of it, the relationship between Loki, Odin and Thor is some of the best dramatic work in the MCU.

If WW has similar elements but also delivers on scope and action then I am in. Ironically despite creating this thread I will not be clicking on any spoilers.

When it comes down to the mythology aspect yes theirs parallels with Thor. It reminded me a little of Captain America The First Avenger, obviously it would the War setting?! But this movie is way better than those. Better than past DCEU Films.

I imagine it's unlikely but any mid credit scene?

Thank you very much, I need positive things for DCEU :(

So apparently Steve Trevor steals Maru's notebook and escapes on a plane but crashes on Themiscyra with the German soldiers in tow.
Feel like we should be introduced to him thru WW's eyes, but whatever.

So question How exactly does the end of Wonder Woman lead into BVS in terms of her character?

By the time of BVS we know Wonder Woman isn't a public hero, and also she seems to have a low opinion of mankind, and mentions "walking away from mankind 100 years ago", and said "man made a world where standing together is impossible"

I think Diana's comments about her post-WWI life now point more towards a disillusionment in the possibility for a partnership between gods and humanity. In other words, Wonder Woman doesn't necessarily have a pessimistic view of mankind but more of a pessimistic view of the possibility of gods and men fighting alongside each other. I suspect WWI, its horrors, and its revelations about her own origins push Diana to reconsider if gods should meddle in the affairs of men in any sort of significant way.

in the light of the rumors about the destiny of THAT Amazon...is painful to me even write about it...had it be true, how would it be possible the continuity with the Amazon mythology of Band Migdhall in a possible future of the franchise with a WW2....I'm just baffled, confused and angry about those rumors...it changes everything...

Are you expecting these films to be adaptations of every story from over 75 years of comic book stories and continuity? I am sorry but... That is crazy. No film made from comic book super hero source material has adapted that material in a on for one manner for a variety of very good reasons. A super hero film is at best going to always clock in at under 2 hrs 45min. These things come out at best every three years. There is not enough time or resources to adapt every single aspect of every single story from every single variation in continuity from deceased and decades. They didn't do that with the Reeve films, the Keaton/Kilmer/Clooney films, TDKT, the Fox mutant films or the MCU and they ain't doing it now.

Pretty straightforward storytelling. Don't worry about editing issues, the film feels complete. :woot: The third act is definitely the weakest part of the movie.

The action was great (Amazons vs Germans, No Man's Land/town :hmr:) though the slow-mo was a tad too much. I feel it broke the rhythm of the action sequence at times.

Gal and Chris were freakin' great together. The beginning with the Amazons and Themyscira was fantastic (no, there is no Contest if you were wondering). Would have loved to see more of Robin's Antiope... :csad: Score was good too, though if you've really enjoyed Zimmer's stuff, especially the score on MoS, you will probably be let down.

Best superhero origin movie since Iron Man.

How was the whole 3rd act with Ares reveal? Does it all fit well, that's really the only criticism I've seen from some

How was Ares? His CGI, his design? His voice?

Thewlis in general as Ares?

I liked Ares...he was certainly better than 90% of the rest of the CBM villains because he actually is a formidable foe. His costume is about what you would expect and his rants on mankind and the failure of the Gods were pretty on point all things considered. They play it up that Ludendorf is Ares until the very end when Ares is truly revealed. Diana has quite the crisis of faith.

The movie does not end leading to BvS it ends with her talking about how she kept fighting and she jumps into battle. The beginning and end are post BvS because she is delivered the picture by Bruce's people which sparks her memory.

The new DC intro is awesome!

My biaseses aside I would take this over almost every other CBM.

Kept fighting in the shadows, I assume? Is there any clarification or retconning her 100 year absence?

Some people gasped at the reveal. After Diana kills Huston's character, whom many believed he was Ares, she's shocked that German soldiers were still "on duty" gathering bombs filled with mustard gas. Being naive she thought killing Ares would deliver those soldiers and become good. Then Steve explains her that it's possible that it is in our nature to be bad whether there's a God of War or not.

His CGI is actually decent, compared to Doomsday or Enchantress's brother. His design is pretty much standard Greek mythos (evil'ish knight armour is the best I can describe :funny:). You can see Thewlis's face under the helm so I think he partially wore a mo-cap suit. He used his regular voice with a deep sound/grawl. It's one aspect of him I can't really remember.

He's behind Zod in terms of characterization but him as Ares is pretty much the final act so he didn't have much screen time (he was playing a legit "good guy" helping the heroes in the second act).

It isnt a retconning, and I cant remember what she said verbatim but the way she put it made sense and didnt require and twisting or changing of continuity. I dont remember it being super specific I just remember going "ok that works"!

A lot of the dialogue in the trailers (especially hers) is different in the movie...and by that I mean they make you think she is saying or doing one thing but she is kinda doing another. (including her monologue abotu saving the world) The lines are the same they are just not edited like the trailer so it goes somewhere else. Like in the BvS trailer where they try and make you think Superman is eye-lasering Batman when it is actually Doomsday and Supes is actually about to save Lois.

BTW the trailers didnt really spoil much at all.

What was the reaction of the other people at the screening?

Awesome to hear! I was also wondering how the film's ending might explain her cynicism in BvS. I don't think it does right? Seems that the film ends on a positive, hopeful note.

It ends post BvS and it is definitely positive. She believes that while men have the ability to do great evil that there is still love and that is worth fighting for.

What was the reaction of the other people at the screening?

At mine it was a lot of loud applause with many people saying "They did it!"

People were captivated by what was going on, they laughed when the film got light hearted and gasped when Diana kicked ass.

BTW I would put the "No Man's Land" scene up against any fight scene in a CBM.
