Secrets Of The Amazon: The Wonder Woman SPOILER Thread

What was the reaction of the other people at the screening?
Definitely lots of laughs during the Diana/Steve scenes (the boat part after leaving Themyscira is gold :funny:). Claps and cheers when end credits started.

Were the slo-mo used well?
Surely the most negative aspect of the film for me. It was just too much. They definitely should have let some roundhouse kicks, bullets blocking, etc. flow normally.

Imagine that sequence of Faora taking out soldiers but in slow-mo... I mean, the action during the warehouse scene where Diana takes out the Germans would have been much better if it was like this:

Or think of the fight scenes in the Batman Arkham games... It's like there's a slow-mo when Diana hits the last soldier...

At mine it was a lot of loud applause with many people saying "They did it!"

People were captivated by what was going on, they laughed when the film got light hearted and gasped when Diana kicked ass.

BTW I would put the "No Man's Land" scene up against any fight scene in a CBM.

Awesome! Awesome! Can't wait to see it.

I thought so but I could see where some might think it is a bit much. I liked it though because you got to see her do things no human can do and it would be hard to duplicate in real speed.

The end fight with Ares is very underwhelming. For one thing, they made Ares a big CGI monster but instead of trying to just have Thewlis turn into that, it is Thewlis inside giant CGI armor. They continue to cut to his face and it is really silly.

Overall the effects in that sequence are pretty bad. The movie in general has a green screen problem. Its a problem that has pretty much become the house style of these DC movies.

Overall my problem with the Ares fight is that it undercuts a surprisingly mature thematic beat, that there isn't just one guy you can defeat to save the day.

It ends post BvS and it is definitely positive. She believes that while men have the ability to do great evil that there is still love and that is worth fighting for.

:hmr::hmr::hmr: Thanks man! And this also kind of explains her desire to help form the League, due to her renewed optimism.

I love slo-mo. So that part is catered to me already.

Hope people aren't too turned off by it. I love slo-mo

Yup, the green screen when Diana goes up the ladder at NML is noticeable. Still the whole build-up and the follow-up when she inspires her team and the British soldiers to fight back the Germans was such a "pump your fist in the air" moment.

I am sorry but lets not pretend that DC is the only one overdoing green screen stuff. That is a ridiculous fallacy.

There is some weak effects but Ares is certainly better than all the Iron Man villains...the big monster at the end is just the trope they all use. The important part is that she chooses to still fight even when she knows it wont fix the world the way she naively thought she would. He is just a means to an end.

Agreed. I'm a bit confused about her exact power set in the movie (especially in the Ares battle), but that's ok with me. The lightening catching and throwing back was a little odd, but I'll take it since we don't know her full parentage and history yet.

And she was mostly fighting humans so she surely didn't even use her full strength. Though, she did collapse the tower where the sniper was when she leaped toward it. :sly:

Well we know Zeus is her father because Ares tells her. (which is why she says "Bye Brother") My guess is she can control lightning because of that.

Yeah a lot of people went "woah" when that happened!

Yeah, it makes sense because of her daddy Zeus, but I just had never seen her do that in the comics so it was strange.

She doesnt fly but she can certainly levitate for a certain amount of time.

She can hover in the air and shoot up super fast. It's pretty much flying and good enough for me. WW isn't someone who zooms around like superman.

This is a beautiful film. Yes, there is some wonky cgi in a few spots, but it doesn't even matter. I thought the use of slo-mo was perfect. I feel like you either like it or don't, but the amount was fine to me.

Gal was even better than I expected and I was rooting for her from the jump. She was fantastic, especially in the emotional scenes.

I feel in love with Chris Pine he is awesome. I cried when I knew he was going to die.

I thought Ares was so well done. He is my favorite villain of all of the comic book movies I've seen. I thought the end fight was great, it was philosophical and a true commentary on humanity and why WW should fight for them/us.

I can't give this movie enough praise. It is not just a great comic book movie but a great film in and of itself. I enjoyed every character. That is rare for me. I love it. I have tickets to see it every day from next Thursday to Monday and I can't wait to experience it all again.

eta: that bed time story montage was drool worthy

Curious, were any other DC heroes referenced or mentioned in the post-day scenes? (Batman, Flash, Superman, Aquaman, or Cyborg)?

Also, how would you guys rate Gal's performance as Wonder Woman in her own solo? I know that some were worried that her performance might end up being bland or that she wouldn't be able to carry the film on her own.

And is Diana ever able to go back to Paradise Island after the events of this film?

From what I can recall:

1. Yes, Bruce Wayne

2. She owns this movie. Just perfect.

3. It's said early on that she won't be able to come back. Not sure if she CANT or if it was meant as she wouldn't make it back.
