Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

That was some crazy posture damage. Did you have the Ascending/Descending Carp skills unlocked by then?

I ....don't remember

I know that I had exhausted how much in could explore up to that point killed all possible mini bosses I even got all the way to main hall of senpou temple.

So I was was definitely beefed up.

I killed Genichiro and then went straight to fighting the monkeys essentially.

What I found works best against him is to be proactive. Keep attacking him and when he is going to counter, dodge towards him, not away. You'll usually end up behind him, giving you free hits.

You'll take him down quickly this way.

Yeah, I took his ass down using pretty much that tactic. Super aggressive, lots of deflecting, a little luck.

Easy took me twenty plus tries to get past the first two stages... then whipped his butt first time in third stage. Epic fight.

Only problem was, I’d explored so much of the rest of the areas before, that beating Genichiro was like popping a cork from a bottle, and now I’m already close to end game :D

It’s a great game. Not quite Bloodborne (because nothing is Bloodborne) but it’s absolutely great.

Apart from Seven Spears.

**** that guy.

I'm at the monkey and wife bosses.
This is utter BS!

It's the first time I feel like I'm dying not because I screwed up, but because it's simply unfair.

EDIT: Just after I posted this I realized the wife is very fragile, so we can take her down quickly.
I love the game again.

Trust me when I tell you that it is easier than it seems @Jick

Are you using the spear trick on the headless ape or fighting him straight up? Anywho when the wife appears concentrate on her but try to engage when they're a little separated

First phase was quite easy. Trouble started when the other ape showed up. But then I used the firecrackers to bend her to her knees and finish her quickly. Only twice was necessary.

I think I just had more trouble with that O'Rin of The Water, actually, but the Sabimaru prosthetic finally made its use. I honestly seem to die more on minibosses than the actual bosses, sometimes.

Spoilers for final boss if you don't want to know strategy:

Final boss is no joke HOWEVER I know I can beat him gotten him to his second to last health bar a few times and I know what I gotta do to take care of that health bar just gotta get his timing's down.

1st phase: Joke imo but can still kill you quick if you're not careful

2nd phase: This is where the true challenge begins but you can bait out some attacks for easy hits if you ant to cheese it, me personally I decided to get decent at parrying specific attacks and THEN getting those free attacks in those other attacks. MUST BE VIGILANT because those specific attacks can wreck you if you are careless and parrying them still damages you.

3rd phase: Basically you're supposed to stick to him like white on rice and parry his stuff . Which is the tough part but 9/10 out of 10 if you get those parries you will get a free mikiri counter. he Goes for the thrust attack almost all the time.

4th phase: frome what I've seen same as phase 3 plus a lightning attack similar to way of Tomoe Genichiro but you gotta time the jump just right in order to land the reversal.

Got my platinum this morning. Which basically takes one new game plus playthrough to get if you using the second save strategy to get 3 of the ending on one playing through, and one on the other.

Love the game. I don't know if it is as good as Bloodborne, but it is up there.

I'm unsure which ending I will be getting haven't looked up requirements, I did get the snake items though which i heard you need for one of the 3 endings.

There are plenty of guides. My advice is if you want the platinum, you look them up. Even if you don't, Return seems to be the "secret/real" ending. That is the one that involves the snake items and the divine child. It is a bit complex on her end, so you might need to look it up.

She dissapeared on me (Divine child) don't know where she went.

You know I tried that and didn't notice her, I'll check again!

Guardian Ape in Sunken Valley is some bull****, eh?
Firecrackers on the first phase and you can also use the shield on the second phase, since it completely blocks the terror roar, while you move behind the ape for some free hits after it's done roaring.

Yeah, I’ve done it. Horrible boss. The camera really screws you over.

Mind you, Owl isn’t any easier!

To me Spear trick makes 2nd phase of ape a joke. The posture damage is insane. All you gotta do is make sure you reflect that big overhead hit he does like 3 times and that's it.

And some are saying that should be patched but I honestly feel that is by design because the spear pulls out that centipede he has inside. in the animation.
