Senate Kills Minimum Wage Bill

for all of you idiots who cry "Get a better job". Do you know that you can't have an economy where everyone's a CEO or someone with high income? All of the posters here are part of the middle class and most of us are teens who really don't know ****. So, please, shut the **** up :)

True that we can't have an economy where everyone makes the big bucks. Every economy needs poor people to s**t on. I'm not saying "get a better job" because most of the people stuck in minimum wage jobs are stuck there, but most often it is their own fault for being stuck there.

He's right, simple question, why should I work at all if I can't earn enough to cover the basic needs? Where is the reason for working then?

Me and Addendum aren't talking about people like college students who will end up getting better jobs later on. We are talking about the people who live on minimum wage jobs.

I know tons of people who put themselves into the minimum wage level positions they are in because they have wasted their lives and money on things such as booze, drugs, gambling, making stupid decisions, poor financial planning, being plain lazy, etc.

Having a crap education, living in a ****ty area, having mental disabilities, being old, yeah.

Crap education is also the student's fault

No. Going to a really crap school would be the government's fault.

And the parents fault for not sending their kid to a better school.

Even if the parents do, it's still up to the student to actually study and do their classwork. The government isn't responsible for that.

Some might say are some of society's problems that easily solveable.

- more like people who did not attend college (there is aid for that) or dropping out of school like my **** of a cousin did

- Move out of the area. Where I live at, it is much cheaper to live at than in the city (movies for 2 and snacks cost me $20!, rent tends to be reasonable, food prices are average, gas prices are average) and it is quite a good area (no crime, no pollution, no traffic, low population, the Republicans are actually competent and not corrupt), the economy is flourishing, even though a job is somewhat hard to find. Hell the only reason it would be considered to be "expensive" is because New York state is taxing the s**t out of everything and is taking advantage of us and still screwing over the s**ty areas (particularly Rochester).

Yes this is rather rare. I live in a very good place, but damn, honestly move out of the area and try to find some place better so that you yourself can live better.

- Those kind of people tend to depend on others for living in the first place.

- Old people suck, I hate old people

Which one. In the United States, education lies with the states, not the federal government.

However, not going to college is not the governments fault.

Hmmm maybe kids should be allowed to sue both if their poor decisions **** up the future of the kids.

No, however there is something called "personal responsibility". I have no sympathy for those who blame others for their own faults because of their actions or lack of action

Oh personal responsibility is a great thing however you forgot to mention something very essential that goes hand in hand with it if someone wants to succeed, Someone needs to give you a chance to prove yourself.

Very true, but you yourself need to show that you deserve the time and effort to prove yourself.

And I have no respect for people that can't see that society has many complicated problems that don't have easy answers, such as "they should just get a better job, 'cause it's THAT easy!". I have no respect for people that can't see that when millions of Americans are struggiling to get by, it's not because of personal responsibility, but it is in fact government responsibility.

"Puhleeeeze!! Somebody give me a chance!!!"

That is a matter of opinion not fact. As a supporter of many libertarian views, such as small government and the ethic of self-responsibility. I strongly disagree with that.

true true but sadly there are people who don't want others to succeed cause you're more valuable as cheap labor no matter how much talent and skills you have.

These ribs are damn good. Your whine adds another texture to the palate. Thank you

As a person who has personally experienced that, I can't disagree with you there.
