Comics Sensational Spiderman 29# *potential spoilers*

Ah but in continuity Liz NEVER blamed Spider-Man for her problems (that was Betty). By Spectacular #200 she had come to terms with Harry and was grateful that Spidey was there to save her family's lives several times in a row from her husband. She also knew how evil Harry could be and how evil Norman was. She blamed Norma nfor Harry and never trusted him. She went to Peter for help and after Spider-Man saved her son from being kidnapped by mad grandpa TWICE, even the screwed up son looked at Spider-Man like a family friend. As I said he might as well have been Uncle Spider-Man to them. And Liz and Pete have always been on good terms, look how good they were about taking care of Flash after his coma as a partnership.

And as with Flash why can't they handle her character with....oh damn. Nevermind then.

Liz DID blame peter for the deaths of Harry and MJ after MJ "died" by telling him to "get away from her becuase everybody close to him dies". If she has those feelings deep down then now knowing that he's Spider-Man should get an angry rise out of her.

Jeez, you guys just don't get it -- there are lots of way to comprehend what people's reactions could and should be. The writers have gone in certain directions with it and as long as its well written I think you should give it a chance. Many people have believed the reactions so far, so why can't you??

It also annoys me that lots of you go on about continuity and use it to show how characters reacted to things THEN, as if they havn't changed as people or as if they look at things rationally. People in comics are supposed to portray real people. Rationality is a tough thing to keep hold of when you've found out a friend lied to you, or he had a hand in/ info on a death of a loved one and continued to lie to you.

Perhaps we know bad devisive and contrived writing and don't mistake it for excusable comic book writing simply because "it was a possible direction to go in?"

Or perhaps it just doesn't ring true for the character at all then?

I wouldn't dare put myself in such a snooty elitist club...

But Liz's reaction bodes well for her character in MY opinion.

:yay:

I agree it was elitist but it was in response to what was it.....

"Jeez you guys just don't get it....Other people have accepted it why can't you?!"

So I gave him a response that was simple direct, and bet cynical, sorry if I offended anyone though.

You just make out if they've got it so wrong that all of us that have accepted it as good writing, or a justified position, are idiots. don't be a dick. I gave an example of how continuity supported it and yeah it is a possible direction to go in. Jesus ****ing christ, it's a work of fiction so it's supposed to be about the quality of the writing. You havn't even read the whole thing yet and still you're acting like I just pissed on your bible.

There are patterns of behavior. Even the most irrational of acts has its basis in the person's history. And good writing builds on that. Characters develop and grow. They even regress. But it should all make sense and flow.

So are you saying this doesn't make sense or flow or are you agreeing with me?
I'd also like to point out that because you don't understand a change doesnt mean it doesnt make sense... We are talking about reflections of people here.

I'm disagreeing with you. It should make sense with fictional characters. With real people we don't have the window into their inner world. With fictional characters we do. so every change should make sense. We may not like it- (Say if a good character does something wrong) but it should make sense.

Since when have we had a window into Liz's soul?? Not for a long time. That argument doesn't work right now, although I agree that made the original unmasking seem out of place for peter. Liz hasn't been around for a long time so it really doesnt apply to her! At least I havnt read anything with her in it for a long time. But i can't win this argument, so I'm gonna stop making it.

We certainly have a window. Liz has a history. We know her story. Any current developments should follow what she's already experienced. Like I've said before. Marvel's character have so much history that at this point they can write themselves.

Wasn't that during the run where MJ's death was an illusion and Liz was being pressured by this "new" Green Goblin while taking over Oscorp at the same time right before Norman's re-emergence?

I'd Chalk it up to bad writing and continuity errors on this one. Howard Mackie....ew.

Yeah.
