September 2010 Solicitations

Looks great... the last few years have been awesome for Spidey fans...

:yay:

Another big Djurdevic layout. Neat.

When we get a new EIC and we get the real Spider-Man back, the one who's 30, married and has a shred of dignity, I will start reading again. But right now it's a hunk of **** that has no value.

Honestly, I'm giving OMIT a fair shot to win me back. Ever since OMD i've been back and forth about the book. They've had some awesome artists onboard (mcniven, marcos martin, JrJr, michael Lark etc) and some pretty good writers like slott and kelly, but they havent really pulled me back in on a consistent basis like JMS did. I'm a sucker for Paolo Rivera's artwork and if Quesada can truly answer ALL of OMD's lingering questions and finally put it to rest, then I'm all for it.

JMS bored me to tears with a few exceptions....

:yay:

Since BND, ASM quality has been 60/40 good to bad....hell I'll even go 70/30. Despite the massive ball of s**t that OMD was, the stories since have been entertaining. But that's an age old argument.....

I'm not gonna buy right away that MJ's back in Peter's life = the marriage is back. MJ's been back since #600. I'll believe it when I see it.

Web is getting the axe already, huh? Too bad, I was hoping they would eventually go back to monthly ASM and add a 3rd title (like bringing back Spectacular).

The Origin of the species plotline is laughable.

Dear Marvel, please put the Daredevil #500, Thor #600, and Amazing Spider-Man #642-644 out as posters. K? Thx. Bye.

That's REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY debatable.

Of course it's debatable... there have been a few lame stories since BND began, but compared to the snooze-fest that was the JMS & Mackie era, it's been really good and it's nice to see that things are fitting in nicely...

"Some" of the new characters are finally becoming comfortable with me, and while there have been some choppy artwork in some issues, at least the stories are flowing nicely (ala old school storytelling-wise... which kicks the arse outta "made for trades" writing...)

Perhaps I should have been more clear and simply stated "the last few years have been awesome for myself as a Spidey reader"...

:yay:

I wouldn't consider JMS as a snooze-fest. More like a crash and burn at the end-fest.

Mackie's ASM definitely was crap. Pretty much everything he's ever written has sucked....except for maybe Mutant X. I never read it but I remember people were into it.

Who's the chick Scorpion on ASM #642's cover? They didn't turn Carmilla into a villain, did they?

Anyway, some stuff for us non-Spider-Man readers:

"Smashing" previews

All-ages previews

Licensed property previews

Iron Man's going to town on someone. Granted, if it's a Hulk-level character, they'll probably swat him away and get up like nothing happened in another 3 seconds or so.

Thor: The Mighty Avenger looks like a lot of fun. Thor vs. Captain Britain is an odd pairing. I'm starting to not like that little tiny helmet so much, but that's a nitpick.

Where are my Ultimate comics. :(

Oh right. Every Solicitation thread turns into Ultimate comics hatred thread. I wished people had grown up from... May!!!!

Every thread period would turn into Ultimate comics hatred threads if I had my druthers. I make no apologies. :oldrazz:

:(. I hope Ultimate Avengers 3 will have a Vampire Thor so i can make that my avatar and praise Vampire Thor in yer threads! :3

I've made my peace with there being sucky Ultimate counterparts to characters. So long as the regular Thor keeps on being as good as it has been, I'm cool.

Implying regular Thor is good post JMS! :awesome:

I'm pretty sure that was me saying that outright, not implying it. 'Cause, y'know, it has. Gillen's doing a better job than JMS was by the time JMS left, in fact.
